the ones i'm mostly interested in are the luke anh/esb ones, how accurate are the hilts compared to a real graflex? size etc?

I don't own a real deal graflex, but I do have the ANH/ESB fx's and for what I paid I'm pretty pleased with them. The ESB is a little bigger than the ANH. Dunno if it was a difference in sound boards but the ANH is a lot louder than the ESB as well.

The newer models that I've seen are pretty close in size and general detail. While still not a Graflex, they are not bad at all.

For the price, you can't beat it. They are very close in terms of size and detail, getting a replica graflex built up with an led and blade will run around 250.00 and thats without any sound.

thanks for the pic, they look really good actually. quite a size difference isnt there, can you do me a favour and measure each of them so i can compare it to my graflex? do they come apart like a real one too? like the red buttons and eye, do they unscrew or are they fixed? do they have different finishes too? the esb one looks more chrome than the anh (which looks brushed). also, where are the switches to turn them on?

The ESB is 11.7 in from the highest point of the metal to the bottom of the D-ring .. the ANH I reboxed earlier but its prob I would say an inch or so shorter? From the guides I have seen for disassembly the button and eye is glued on and you will need a very small pick to pry them off without damaging them. To my eyes the finish both looks the same in person... ANH turns on at the control box, ESB turns on with the button under the bunny ear clip (slides). This pic is not mine (used the google) but might help since it has the FX right next to a graflex.

The FX ANH is pretty darn close in size to a Graflex. I had both. The problem with all FX Sabers is the blades are permantely attached. Unless you do a Luxeon conversion on them. Then you have a removable blade.

For all things FX lightsaber related I suggest the FX-Sabers forum.

thanks for the replies guys, from the pics it looks like the luke anh is the only accurate one compared to a real graflex, the others (esb and rots) look oversized.

how accurate are the vader ones? from the pics i've seen the esb one is much longer than the anh one, which is more true to the real thing?

Of all the force Fx sabers made, the graflex and MPP versions are the most accurate I'd say 98-99% accurate depending on which saber. You will love how it looks and feels in person. The only drawback is not being able to detach the blade and use it as just a hilt.

Dave :)

The cheapest prices will always be on eBay, but I hear people are quite pleased with their dealings with Redfordfilms.com. They seem to be about $110 there.

(My first post! And I'm not associated with Redford Films at all.)

hi, i've got the luke anh and thats pretty damn accurate to my graflex, but looking at the vader ones in pics the anh and esb are vastly different in size (just like the luke anh and esb), which one is more accurate?

The newest version of Vaders ANH saber is pretty close in size, in fact I think they got the size correct when the ESB version was released a while back, and they have used those specs for the newer ANH version. But the ANH version only has six grips instead of seven. And neither have the flash bulb connector detailing just inside the emitter, while the older style Vader ANH hilt did.

How close is the Dooku prop?

The official MR one was always outside of my price range so I have been thinking about grabbing the FX one. But it looks obviously oversized to me in just random pics alone.

So other than thickness, how is that one?

I don't personally own the Dooku FX, and it may be "fat," but it is the only choice right now for a light-up Dooku...

You are right about that. I have a graflex ESB saber, and the Force FX, and the FX is *huge*. It is noticeably longer, and fatter around.

I had an ESB Luke FX and apart from the fact that it was oversized, I believe it was far more accurate than the ANH FX. The ANH has too many detail oversights for my taste. The ears and emitter loop are two separate pieces, the shoulders under the glass eye and red button are separate parts and not part of the main tube as they should be, and the activation box is a separate piece from the band, unlike the real Graflex clamp. I was so disappointed I abandoned my plan to buy it and remove the blade for a cheapie replica.
