it's late out here and a spooky moon is out so i thought i'd thought it would be cool to post an Hot Wheels Ecto-1 i did

earlier shot before the wheels were changed to more correct looking ones

i wasn't too happy with the detail mattel put on the SDCC Ecto-1 so saved my self the $$$ and detailed the 99cent one. i did the best to match the car to stills of the movie and the re-built one on the blu-ray disk. in the first pic of the 2 side by side i have plans to make it look like the car as it was first seen when ray pulled up with it. the drivers side will be the guess since it was never seen and im not sure if there is any before photos of the car are available.

they are from an off brand called Speed Wheels that you can find at 99cent stores on a blue 56 t-bird. they had a chrome ring on the side walls that i painted white. some times you don't have to spend a lot to get the right details.

Very cool. I never saw these in stores. Then again you have collectors who hit walmart and such right as inventory arrives and will spend an hour digging in the piles.

the one CessnaDriver posted was the SDCC one with "details" metal base and real rider wheels(rubber wheels) the one i did is the one found on the pegs. i still see them pop in grocery stores like 1 or 2 in a store that gets old cases.

I have never once seen one on the pegs. It's crazy they don't make enough and what does make it to the pegs gets zapped up fast.

when they first came out they were tough but as more came out and some collectors started to pass them up is when i found them. the VHTF is a Target "snow flake" card were the package has snow fakes on the card art.

I found these cars on the pegs at Wal-mart back in May. Found 2 more at K-mart a few weeks after that. Have not seen them since. CessnaDriver and superDrool PM me and I will send you both one.

I forgot I had one of these. I can't remember where I found it... Target? Wal Greens? I saw it and figured if i did not get it, I might never see one again (which is true so far). I stuck it away. It is now stored away with my BTTF Delorian and some Speed Racer cars.

Very nice,I have one that believe it or not I found in a "10 for $10" bin at Kroger-I had been wanting one and had checked out Wal-Mart but to no avail,I saw the bin at Kroger and thought "what the hell" and started digging almost missed it too but on the last go round I found it! :lol

Sometimes it doesn't hurt to scope out local dollar stores and drug stores,be shocked at what you may run across :thumbsup

I'm hoping to get the SDCC exclusive time machine Delorian at comicon this year. Fingers crossed.

Looks great with the new wheels. When (if) I get one of these, I'll have to attempt that.

I haven't seen any of these locally, and I've been combing the racks looking for other stuff lately (police, muscle cars), so if they'd been there I'd have seen them. I think Cincinnati is one of the last places to get new Hot Wheels, Matchboxes, action figures, you name it.
