more progress. just need to cut the groves and then weld them using puddle welds

WOW! I'm not surprised if you could still get pretty good accuracy with something like that after proper cleaning and maybe a light resurface. I don't know if you know about resurfacing these things, or if you're even going too. But old machines are some of the best in my book. I have a 50 year old mill that I converted to CNC and it holds tolerances of .0005". Either way you have definitely taken the right step in getting much more detail into your work.

so i decided, even though the lathe is almost 100 years old im going to bring it into the age of the ease...
i have ordered a 4 jaw 2" lathe chuck for it and ill rig it to also take a drill chuck (interchangeable)
these pics are just a mock up but here goes..

Sound's logical. may I ask were you got that? been so many time's I could use something like that. you've got me looking into chuck's and some are pretty affordable. what arm part's will be worked on that? sorry for so many question's.

thanks for the interest good questions. im really into old school things, so i go to as many model engineering shows, vintage rallys, auto/aircraft/boat jumbles, and all that stuff... i found this at a vintage rally. there was a load of stalls selling allsorts of old junk (in our case treasure)
i would have been happy just polishing it up and putting it next to my other collectibles (much to my partners dismay)
i want to use it for cutting the groves on the ball joint, putting holes in the ends of the pistons, turning square fingers round and all that stuff..

Hope you get her up and running again. the old stuff is the best stuff. look foreword on the progress of this and the endo arm...

thanks. at first i was going to just throw it together and save a few pound, but i figured if im going to spent all this money i should do it right so now this is turning out to be a big project.
