Hello Everyone,

Hollywood Treasure aka Profiles in History are having an Appraisal Fair on April 2nd at the SAG Center in Los Angeles. If you ever wanted to have your screen used props appraised possibly by Joe Madalena this is an opportunity to do so....there is no obligation to sell anything. They will be filming at this location just so you know. Anyone interested please contact me for details. I also have the PDF of the below image in case you want it e-mailed to you. Below is the flyer they asked me to post for them.

Premiere Props is about 2 miles from me. Is the auction at their wharehouse in El Segundo or someplace else?

If it is at their place in El Segundo, I say we meet at my house, hang out in my prop room and then head over there and check it out. Let me know Michael.

Is anyone interested in going or doesn't want to go but have their prop appraised? Contact me if interested.

If all the props keep getting appraised by Joe, you will have to be a millionaire to buy props soon.

No offense TymerDC, but Profiles is notorious for selling things that are not what they are claimed to be. Profiles and appraisal are just two words that don't sound good together.

...but that is just my opnion, what do I know.

Wes,

No offense was taken but some people act like they are forced to deal with Profiles or have to talk to Joe. I say the same thing weather anyone is talking about Profiles, Propworx, Prop Store, Premiere Props, Christies or one of many other 100's of Auction Houses...."you don't have to deal with them, simple as that."

But I'd appreciate it if you or anyone else that has issues with any Auction Houses please don't turn this into a bashing thread.

I have nothing against Joe or PiH, and have been a satisfied customer in the past. That said, I did find it interesting how many higher end items in their last catalog didn't make their minimum bids (and not just the contested Star Wars stuff). The economy sucks, and the prop market has reflected that too. At least a dozen marquee items had minimums set at what was clearly 2x what the current market would pay. Alec Peters of PiH's sometimes-rival Propworx commented on his blog that if consignors to one of his Star Trek or other auctions insisted on minimums that clearly far outside market values he'd turn the consignments down rather than coddle unrealistic expectations and risk seeming out of touch with the market.

While consignors do set minimum prices or reserves (after all, they own the items), I do think there comes a point when running an auction with lots of unrealistic minimum bids does risk making the auction house look out of touch with the market, and therefore less knowledgeable and less professional. With new rivals in town and established retailers branching into consignment auctions, PiH should be careful not to misstep too much with their market-leading position.

Just a little announcement for interested parties that are planning to attend. I just received an email from production and apparently they sent out a flier stating a "3 item limit".....which has now been removed. They also extended the hours to 9am - 5pm in case you've read another flier other than the one posted here.

Yes. It was about 2 months ago. At the beginning of the episode you can see my headpiece for a brief second.
