I've always hated the ripoffs, they make the dragon look like a tiger, a fugly one at that lol

Thought I'd bring this ol' thread back to life a bit and say I just got a Marto Connor (Katana) a couple of days ago.

It feels solid enough (especially for a wall-hanger) on par with UC's LOTR swords (like the Witch King). It does feel a little cheaper than the recent China-made Kill Bill swords going for about half the cost (but then I was surprised at the quality-vs-price of that particular sword). For one, the saya on the Connor is metal, not wood and the gold plating on the tsuba is awfully cheap looking. Be prepared to give it a wash of black and some light dusting with 400-grit paper.

I'd give it a 3 out of five for cost vs quality. In any case I certainly wouldn't recommend getting anything cheaper, even for a wall hanger. If anyone needs pics... let me know and I'll see what I can do.

if you go to rubbing on that plated tsuba, dont be surprised if you start seeing silver........ the plating is NOT very thick

I'd like to see as many pics you can take of that thing. Not only my favorite sword design (Connor's katana in ANY of the Highlander films), but I've noticed that the Marto Connor sword's tsuka varies in color from heavy tan to a lighter cream color on some swords (best seen in Endgame). Thanks in advance!
Seth

As for those POS wall-hangers, some versions of the "connor" hilt look good enough to me as a seperate character's sword and a good recast of that hilt in a better material, different tsuba, and stronger blade would make for a nice custom character's weapon, mainly cause it's the base for a sword design of one of my fanmade Immortal characters, but not Ian MacPharlane's (My first Highlander Immortal fanmade character who most of my proposed stories will be about) since his is about 98% identical to the Jose De Braga custom designed Connor-ish katana seen on the Usual Suspects site. Kinda funny on that one since I had the design for Ian's katana in my head for months before that sword was made. The only differences are that there are no gold pegs and the tsuba is based off of one seen in a screenshot i have from the 7 Samurai. Other than that, it's spot on. For those that are wondering why my design looks like Ramirez'/Connor's kat so much is because in one of my (as of now a WIP) stories Ramirez stops by Ian's place on his way to see Connor and stay's a while teaching him and while there Ian closely examines the Masamune sword and being a genius himself in the ways of swordsmithing, makes his own superior version of the katana. He will also carry an identical wakizashi and tanto and will eventually make an identical odachi when he travels with Connor to Japan and learns of many of the various sword types found there. During his life, he makes similar, though slightly inferior ivory-hilted katanas of many designs for his friends, family, and various other individuals (these will be the MANY different ivory hilted katana designs seen on ebay and other online stores, plus a few of my own designs). Well, sorry for the long winded post but I just kinda felt that I should share my thoughts on the other Highlander-ish swords out there and some of my own designs.

Anybody know what this sword is? Amanda (Elizabeth Gracen) from Highlander the series wielding it. It seems like I remember it being an "off the shelf" sword made by somebody.
