Highlander 3: The final dimension/The Sorcerer: Nakanos "Block??

Alright, im a die hard Highlander fan....... just sitting here watching Highlander 3 and Im wondering , how did they do the EXPLODING sword? I watched it frame for frame and , well, i KNOW its not metal... steel does not SHATTER like that.... i was thinking they made a glass blade, but there is a SPARK when the blades make contact..... is it CGIed?

ALSO has anyone tried making Nakanos sword steel "Block" with the Kanji symbol on it?

I'd guess CGI. They wouldn't risk putting something that would shatter that crazy unless they could control it and make sure it doesn't cause injuries to the main actors.

well whats crazy is you can tell the "hand" holding it is probably a manquins because of the way is wobbles... definantly not a human hand

One question I have is How did Conner's katana get back together for Highlander II? I've seen the first two movies (on VHS, bad pic quality, non prefered versions, etc.) and having recently known that the sword is broken in III, which takes place before II, I'm baffled that the sword appears unbroken in II. Did they re-forge it or something?

P.S.-- I do know that II was a horrible compromise and that III did a better job as a sequal and that many think it should be the second movie and that II should be disregarded altogether. So they may have just discredited the second movie entirely and made a new sequel from scratch that tells a different sword story than II. I may be wrong though. Feel free to correct me.

Bingo. Highlander 2 (The Sickening) was not made, and does not exist. And even though the most recent two aren't horrible, "there should have been only one."

As an aside, I'd love to have seen a deleted scene from III:

MacLeod is going about his business when Kane appears right next to him.

MacLeod: Whoa. How'd you do that?
Kane: I'm a sorceror. I can teleport.
MacLeod: Cool. Where've you been all this time?
Kane: Trapped under a mountain for hundreds of years.
MacLeod: Bummer. So tell me again, how did you do that?
Kane: Like I said, I can tele - ah, damn it. Damn it, damn it, damn it...
