hey does anyone have any idea on how to make the hessian costume from tim burtons sleepy hollow? I know museum replicas made one and is pretty good but the tunic is not that good I was wondering how could I make that ornate silver chest piece on the costume? I thought maybe I could use a tooling leather technique but I need other ideas heres the tunic piece I'm talking about

I was thinking that the tooling leather was the best approach as well. I was planning on contracting a friend to do just that for me.

I do think that the tooled piece is detachable from the tunic.

That's a great image. I had someone approach me to do this a couple months ago, and had to turn them down due to sheer lack of reference material. Do you have any other large images?

You may not believe it, but that intricate design was fabric puff paint... Just sayin' ;)

Are you making a joke? Or do you actually know this to be fact?

I have always loved this costume, and wanted one since the movie came out. are you sure that it is puff paint some of those details look a little too fine to be puff paint. though i could be wrong.

Coleen Atwood herself said it was puff paint, also a member here was able to see it in person (way back) and he also said it was puff paint, so, while I didn't test it myself I'm quite sure it is indeed puff paint.

I'm not sure how it was laid on the surface, maybe they made a screen to screen-print it, but that's how I THINK they did it :)

Hey,
Here's a pic of the original Horseman costume from Sleepy Hollow that i own and it is definitely puff paint.
It was printed onto black fabric then sewn onto the tunic.

Does anyone know what the material and design is on the cape? Trying to make the costume for next Halloween but am coming up short on the cape.

Did you ever speak with anyone regarding the Horseman costume? I have one of the Horseman costumes and the riding dress as well. My wife bought them years ago and it's fascinating to see something in person that was used in a film.
