I would like to make a padawan costume for my son this year.
Anyone know where I can find a Helmet or something I could use to make the helmet?
Or some images?
Any help would be appreciated.
Bob
large salad bowl or outdoor bird bath or something else from
-thrift store
- Wally world
- IKEA (they happen to have metal as well as wooden ones from time to time, with a flat top)
- hobby store
-DIY store like Home Depot or else
For the jacket :
- on the cheap you could get a cheap karate jacket and dye it the colour you like
For the saber :
- cheapo saber from Hasbro or knock off
- youngling saber could turn up something when you use the search function
Another source for general information would be www.theforce.net ´s fan forums/ fan activities/costumes and props
The youngling tunic is special, because it is curved at the bottom and hems meet at a 90° angle.
To help keep the garment on, I suggest that you have ties that hold it together on the inside, at each hip. Karate gis often have these, but it is not as common among Jedi tunics however.
A problem with using plastic bowls is that these are most often made out of types of plastic (PE, PE-HD, HDPE, PP) that are impossible to get glue or paint to stick to with any permanence.
There has been an old tutorial for one of the lightsabers. I found out that I had the images, and combined them with the text still on ASAP. Check it out here.
Another youngling saber was made from the Qui-Gon saber in the TPM Jedi Gear play set.
