Help With FX Saber Build

So I'm looking to purchase my first high-end FX style saber but have no idea what to really get or do.

I don't know how to do installs or anything like that, so Im figuring I have 2 options. 1 to buy a completed saber from somewhere like Korbanth, or 2 buy all parts and send it off to someone to install everything for me.

Any reccomendations as to which route would be more ideal? I think I want to go with a Luke ROTJ style or Obi ROTS style hilt and probably neo-pixel w/ proffie board. I'm not sure where to get those already completed as Korbanth does not have those available at the moment (they do have the empty hilts for sale though). As for buying all neccessary parts, how do I know what all I need as far as speaker size, switches, etc?

Thanks for any adivce or information.

For me I started by converting readily available Hasbro and MR FX lightsabers to in-hilt LED sabers to get the removeable blade and battle readiness. You can get broken units quite affordably on eBay. The Custom Saber Shop has conversion kits and tutorial pages galore. Careful though, it's a pretty serious gateway drug. Good luck, man. :)

If you know even a little bit of soldering, you could do it yourself, but it is a steep learning curve.

I personally took an entire week to figure out my first install. On my second install, I tried to cannibalize the crystal focus from my first and somehow burned out the board. Bye bye $150.

I did manage to finish it and it has been chugging along for three years now.

I do fx saber installs, mostly using plecter labs boards.in general, I do all the purchasing of components for my clients, less fir them to worry about. There really are no set sizes for things like the battery or speaker that you are "supposed" to use, just whatever you can cram into the hilt. That said, i suggest getting the biggest speaker you can fit in there with room for a resonating chamber. Here is a basic rundown of what you will need.

Blade:
Poly carb tube
Foam diffuser
Tip
Led string blade
Pogo pin connector
Pogo/blade adapter

Hilt:
Sound board
Switches (usually momentary)
Speaker
Battery (lithium Ion)
Pogo pin connector
Pogo/blade adapter

You can get most if not all of this from thecustomsabershop.com
