HELP: tips for working with oil based clay????

Hi there.

A friend has asked me to help with sculpting and has given me some oil based clay and a plaster/ultracal master to work off. My question is, do I need to seal the plaster first for the oil based clay to stick, or can I just start adding the clay and sculpting? Thanks for any help.

Good question.I think you'll be fine by just sticking the clay onto the plaster piece.I'm not sure i follow if he gave you an ultracal "negative mold" or if its part of the scultping master that is to be finished off with oil based clay?I think the only thing you need to worry about is being sure the plaster mold is clean.

it is a plaster positive of a face that needs some areas built up with the clay.
