Help needed: Unfold for IronMan MK VI

Hi everyone,

my name is Tobias and I am from Germany. This year for carnival I had the crazy idea to build a IronMan MK VI Foam suit. :cool MK VI because I like the triangled element for the Arc reactor and compared to more modern MK versions it might be not as hard to create for a noob like me. (less detailed ).

I already bought 5 and 10mm foam (6 square meter in total), cutter and hot clue and I am ready to start.
Now I encountered some problems and as a result several questions:
I am 6’ 3” (172 lbs) and all unfolds i could find end at 6’, which seems to be too small. What I learned is, that the pep files need to be scaled and then unfolded again. And thats the problem. I have no clue how to unfold them for foam. I watched several videos (xrobots) and read through the forum, but I am still not sure, how to do it. As I am already running out of time (4-5 weeks left), I would need some help from the experts
Maybe someone already made a foam unfold of an MK VI for a person of my or a similar size and I just couldn’t find it in the forum (I searched a lot to find something usable in my size).
I would also appreciate, if someone could make an unfold of the robo’s MKVI for 6’ 3”.
As we have winter and its pretty cold, a bigger suit might also fit (more room for warm clothing )

If you have any tips for me, I would be very happy to receive them.

Hi, there is no need to unfold a pep file again. If your pepakura file is not password protected and you have the pro version (costs a few euros) there is no problem to scale the suit up to your size...
Check out some pepakura tutorials from STEALTH on YouTube. He's explaining what you are looking for.
Btw: I'm also from Germany but haven't found a thinner EVA foam mat than 10mm...
Where did you get them? Do you have a picture of the foam quality?

Hi Seb,

Thanks for you infos. But where can I get a pepakura file for an MK VI which is already optimized for foam builds? The famos files from robo are designed for paper or resin builds and would need adjustments as far as I understood.
Regarding the foam: I got it from ebay. They sell it in 0.5, 1 and 2m² pieces, which I think is a benefit for building larger pieces Its Plastazote LD45. They also offer LD25.

The picture in the offer is pretty exact. I can make some pics this evening, how it looks in reality. Its black and both sides are complete flat/even. No structure.

Aldi had some floor mats (not exactly EVA) two weeks ago, I bought them for parts of my HEV suit and they work as fine as EVA mats. Size is something like 5mm, something between 1 and 2 square meters, price something like 12 or 13 euro... The surface is a little grainier than that of EVA, but due to it's higher rigidity cutting even fine details is a lot easier!
