help me decide what to get

i have a chance to get either the noble collection triwizard wand set or the malfoy wand/cane as a birthday present...i've wanted the malfoy cane since the second i saw it in the movie (and will probably actually use it was a cane on occasion)...but the triwizard set has more wands (and generally more props=more better)...though i had written it off as too expensive...and i'm more likely to convince the mrs to let me drop the $95 on the malfoy cane than the $145 on the triwizard set...so...what say you guys?...skott

Hell, I like em both, but I think the Malfoy cane wins by a narrow margin. That is one cool prop.

Forgive the hijack/sidetrack, but does it piss off anyone else that they changed the designs of the wands so dramatically with no explaination whatsoever?
Sorry...had to vent.

not a problem...and i agree...it doesn't make sense within the "rules" (for lack of a better word) of their universe...and to be perfectly honest i much preferred the older styles...they seemed more like finely crafted tools...of the newer style wands the ones i like the best are the ones that feel more like the older style (using noble for examples - sirius, neville, draco, snape, lupin, mcgonagall, and fleur)...most of the newer, more organic wands seem to downplay the incredible craftmanship that the books attribute to wandmakers...they seem like ollivander just picks sticks up off the ground...then again...the custom wand i've got plans to make would i guess be a hybrid of the two...turned handle with a rougher shaft....skott

Personaly, I'd go with the triwizard thing first. Later on, I would pick up the Lucious cane. I saw both in real life, and the set is a really cool one. :)

I own both and I think the cane, while cool, has no real display value. The Tri-wizard wands look much better on display. Without the wand out, it's just a cane, and that's no fun. With the wand out it looks a bit awkward.

Having seen and held both of them. I would have to agree with Juno on the wand set. The Malfoy cane is a bit ackward as the actual wand is heavy. Though I have to admit it is beautiful. Makes a great costume accessory... But if this purchase is truly a prop value display only, then the wand set is your best bet. They are very nice indeed.

Of course Christmas is just around the corner..... Maybe one for your birthday and one for christmas....^0^.

I believe you meant to say "having seen and COVETED both of them" :p

Wonder what YOU'RE getting for Christmas.

Welcome (finally) to the RPF. :D

I guess im missing it but I think the potter movies are way more skewed to the younger crowd.
I wouldnt get any potter props.

I have the Tri-Wizard colection and am very pleased, I did slightly enhance the washes and highlights to my liking as the finish was a bit factory looking. Jeff

I used to think this way when I first heard about HP, didn't even bother seeing the first movie in the theaters, but i have to say i couldn't have been more wrong. I now own and make several of the props seen in HP including the brooms, maps, letters, remembrals, boxes, and wands.

Oh and I bought the Tri wizard set of wands for a friend for their b-day very cool.. i'd say go for that one and then hope santa brings you the other.

I'd think about it this way: What character do you prefer? Malfoy or the wizards from the triwizard tournament? The answer to this question leads to your choice as both the cane/wand and the 3-wand-collection would be a nice addition to a prop collection.

I have a thing for canes- like I need something ellse to collect- :(

The malfoy has great appeal to me. Wand display looks darn neat and appeals to my obsessive compulsive desire to complete any collection.

With me I'd have to say which was I going to get first.
Birthday cane and maybe a Christmas wand? Huh? Huh?

i want to thank everyone for their advice....i've thought about it and weighed the options and then i talked to my wife about it...she basically told me what to do...kinda...she said "you're right...i am more likely to let you buy the cane...go for the triwizard set"...the way she said it implied that she's very likely to let me buy the cane (i'm thinking "santa" is going to get it for me for christmas)...so since i'm probably going to end up with both by the end of december i'll let my future stepfather pick up the more expensive of the two (he really wants me to like him)....skott

Pardon the hijack, but I was looking into buying my first wand, (Sirius' wand) and was wondering if they were cast or actually made from wood or something else entirely?

Thanks.

If it's Noble Collection, it's cast resin, just like in the movie.
