Can any of you great Movie Prop experts help me get closer to learning how to acquire or locate the following Movie prop?

Item: HEADREST from the Herman Miller Aeron Office Chairs.
Movie: Stealth
Year: 2005
Director:Rob Cohen
Writer:W.D. Richter
Studio: Columbia Pictures Corporation (Sony Pictures Entertainment)

I have been informed by Herman Miller Corporation representatives that this headrest was never produced by the Herman Miller company and must have been made for the movie or acquired as a optional accessory. But, it is not available for purchase anywhere!

Please review the following link to the movie screenshots showing the
headrest clearly placed on the Aeron Office chairs:

Any help would be much appreciated. If you know anyone who worked on this movie or have seen this movie prop or accessory, it would be greatly appreciated. I want to get this product for my own chair and I am betting someone manufactures these headrests.

HELP!
Fabian.

Sorry about the link, I'm going to upload the PDF tonight.. should be online in about 2 hours..

Thank again,
F.

That's cool, I'd love to actually have a head rest like that for my chair! :)

According to Aeron (in response to your question it looks like... :) ) :

The movie production company made these headrests themselves out of PostureFit back supports with heavy modification. Unfortunately modifications like this void the Herman Miller warranty, so we cannot recommend doing this.

Here's the support they are referring to:
http://www.officedesigns.com/product-exec/product_id/49/pn/Aeron_Chair_PostureFit_Lumbar_Support_Kit
Which you can see is the Y-shaped part holding the head rest. Not sure what the head rest itself is made from...

Gosh, I think you are right.

If you turn the headrest photos 180', it sure looks like it was sourced form the PostureFit lumbar attachment.

This begs the question:

Why would a Movie studio go through all the trouble of creating a headrest for an office chair; and not simply just get other chairs? There are dozens of similiar Aeron model office chairs which have headrests.

Here are just a few:

-9to5seating: Strata with Optional Headrest
-Ergocraft ECO7 Mesh Chair
-Saturn Space with X10 Headrest
-Valo Viper Chair with Optional Headrest
-Nightingalechairs models CXO001 and CXO002

Not to doubt your claim, [as I bow down to the Movie Prop gods] but how did you come to know this information?

Thank you again,
Fabian.

I thought it was from Aeron themselves (or Hermann Miller), but it looks like it's from a fan-made website about the chair... :cool Aerons.com:

http://www.aerons.com/aeron_chair_blog.php

Looks like a response to a question you sent them.

After searching for the PostureFit thing, it's obvious that it was used as parts to hold the head rest...

But I do agree, it seems like a silly thing to do... Did they really need a headrest for the movie? Maybe they were trying to make the chair look a little less like an Aeron, more like something cooler/futuristic...

I also agree i don't know what the round part of the head rest itself was made of. Could they have butchered a whole Aeron just to make a little round headrest?

I am pretty sure their is a major market for this Aeron headrest optional accessory. This chair is extremely popular and tons of people have screamed to Herman Miller to make this part, but they will not.

If anyone would be interested in making one, I would buy it; and I know they would sell thousands of units to others.

Yes, there is a headrest which fits the Aeron. It is from the 9to5seating's STRATA chair and it snaps onto the aeron perfectly. I have found where to get this headrest if anyone wants to get one, it's about sixty bucks.

Thanks,
Fabian.
