hey guys.
im trying to throw together a Karl Kroenen mannequin, hes one of the villains from HellBoy if you dont know already. im trying to do the WWII suit from the opening scene where hes got the trench coat & such. i plan to have the mannequine look similar to the photo below and have him aiming either a luger in the direction hes looking or have the two tonfa swords in his hands.
anyone know where i can find stuff for this project? i would like to start with either the gas mask or the two tonfa swords, preferably the mask, anyone know how accurate the united cutlery swords are?
so any info on this project would be well appreciated
if anyone has a Sideshow kroenen mask and is interested in selling PLEASE let me know
Thanks guys,
Dana

If you are looking for a hellboy / Kroenen expert to chat with, get in contact with Thomas aka hollywoodhardware!

Dana, i too have a screen used costume. I've sent you a PM, if you need any help let me know.
Sideshow mask is the best start, but will need tailoring slightly to match the German uniform one.
Also the swords do not go with the german uniform, the cutlery swords are later on in the film. So you'd have to custom make the correct blades to go with the german uniform, if you want to be screen accurate.

Thanks

hey, I may be able to help, in the finishing stages of a Kroenen mask, its one of my first props that I've created (although certainly not the first piece of art I've pulled together) and from what I've seen, it appears closer to the licensed prop than any of the fan made ones I've seen on ebay in the last few months. The last official Kroenen mask I've seen on Ebay was a buy it now at $1250 and when I went to look for it on a friends computer, it was no longer on, so I assumed it had been sold. holler at me if you're interested, we can have a chat.
good luck.
p.s If we decide anything I may be able to chuck in the skull and Eagle patch on the cap, I know I've got a few sets somewhere.....

very interested as well!
trying to put together a kroenen from the opening sequence
ready to buy.

hey, well today didnt go exactly as planned, as the skies opened up and rained continuously from 2pm, which meant that I was only at it an hour before I had to abandon it as I've holes in my workshop roof that needs patching and prefer to layer my fibreglass in dry conditions. Back to work tomorrow but I've got saturday to work on it so hopefully there will be photos by sunday. sorry to get your hopes up but I wouldn't want to rush it in fear of messing up. slow and steady wins the race. I'll keep you updated

nice of you to say, we are all here for the same thing. Looking forward to seeing this.

Propstore of London had a screen used Kroenen undersuit for sale a while back, I contacted Thomas but he already had one, it may still be there

hey, done some glassing and sanding this afternoon, but still alittle way to go,yes it is nazi kroenen, will try get photos after dinner although my camera is playing silly buggers at the moment. To be totally frank, I'm still considering which way to go with it at the moment, my original intention was to make the first prop with the limited funds I have at the moment to sell off, in turn generating extra funds to put into this delightful hobby. However, since getting so much positive feed back and so many people enquiring about it I've sort of had a change of heart and would love to make a working mold, so I could try make several people happy and I'd also get to keep the original! But as I say, funds are very limited at the moment.I didnt have a sideshow replica to hand so I've scaled it to my own head to get the original shaped formed. If you've ever used fibreglass and tried to get a perfect finish, you'll understand why its still has pits and scuff marks, I'm still in the shaping stage after finding a few flaws, so I'm trying to iron em out. Tis my first prop built so I'm not used to not having a bit of artistic license on these things. Bear with me (grrr!) and I'll be back when I've got photo. Criticism welcome but dont be true cruel. I'm peering up at giants right now so try not to stamp on me!:)

I saw a sideshow collectibles helmet in a store in New Hope, PA. But, that might have been 2 or 3 years ago so I don't know if its still there.:unsure

For the Luger you can use a WE airsoft gun luger. It costs about $80.

It is quite small, its a tight fit on me.

The kroenen under jacket owned by prop store was around £2000, think it was sold to. There was another that Revolutions auctioned off (minus insignia) which went for $1600, but was sold on by the winner. wish i had the money to buy it at the time.

South beach leather made mine, for very cheap and its very nice indeed. I gave them refence pics and sizes from the online auction.

any chance we could get some of those reference pics or sizes?

i'm talking about the under jacket rather than the overcoat. The overcoat made by southbeach, i didnt think was very close to the original.

Also the overcoat is infact dark blue leather not black, however it looks black in pictures. i'll take some close ups to show the colour later.

I can certainly email anyone who wants the pics. PM me.

Hey all. I also own one of the screen-used kroenen officer's coats. LDR, hope I'm not offending by jumping in with these...

These photos are taken with a flash and I think the bluer tone of the coat really comes through. In person it looks like a very dark, very deep navy blue with a slight grayish tint.
