Helmet sculpt material and advise - help needed

Well, this will be my very first attempt to do some actual PROP MAKING.

What I am looking is for the right material(s) to start making a sculpt a master for a mask/helmet to be finished via vacuuformed, with a dull plastic film (sintra, styrene), to then be painted (spray paint better). Just something that I could mold, carve, smooth, that I could work comfortable (like clay), but not to get dry too quickly, in case I need to rework little details.

This helmet/mask will consist of about 3 different parts (that I know of), front, back and neck part. Let's think something similar to a wearable C-3PO mask and neck set, which prop makers of this specific helmet will be much appreciated input. This mask/helmet will not be as constrictive as the C-3PO, but slightly larger in size to fit ANYONE's noggin size inside.

Any ideas, materials, leads (info) and links, will be really appreciated.

might want to ask a mod to move this to the prop or costume forum to get some ideas. I use oil clay to sculpt the item to start. Or chavant clay is good too.
