Looks like they were just hand painted with gold paint, no? At least the symbols. The Roman numerals might be leaf/stamped.

We'll be hearing from MurdocXXL, directly, I bet. Hopefully, he will tackle some serious replicas to sell us!

Awesome pics... many thanks for sharing them Adam! Those are of great help. Especialy with the ruler beside :D
As well the pics from top and rear are very interessting... and the details of the gold toolings.

@ahoidini, thanks for re-posting them so that we all can see them here!

Roman numbers are hot foild / gold tooled (you can see the embossings at certain areas), where the symbols are added with simpe gold-paint I guess.

If my time management would be better, I would have something to show up and share already. But well it is like it is :cry
Still a hobby so, sometimes no chance to choose between "what you would like or what you have to do" :darnkids

Will give no timeframe, but we are getting closer.... ;)

Thanks, again Adam! I wonder if the symbols could leather texture looks be gold leaf attached to a glue or sizing base that was just painted on to the binding? Do we (collectively) know what type of leather was used for the binding on the original books? The texture almost looks porcine.

Good evening all,
I want to thank you for the info on Broom's box. I hope you dont mind too much but I resized mine fit a D&D book. Next time I plan on building a scale accurate version.
I was wondering, it looks like the movie books are based around 5.5x8" log book.
