In case you were wondering - almost full list of tool and materials I bought for this project
Here's a pretty much full list of tools and materials I bought for this project. In case you were wondering
hearing protection
roller brushes
mini hand saw
scroll saw
table saw + additional fine quality blade
blue and dark blue paints
silicon
resin
styrene sheets
superglue
wood glue
wood mordant
satin varnish for wood
glossy spray varnish for metal like elements
steel wool
spray putty
spray primer
bondo
spot fillers
patinas
copper metal powder
brown resin dye
Yesterday I ordered copper powder and today received... cuprous oxide, heh... and the guy I bought some of the required wood told from me he did not get the latest supply so he has to send my money back :/. Dunno how much longer it's gonna take to have everything...
Thanks . Recently I've been fixing mistakes I have no idea how I made but everything is fine and dandy now so... today nothing really new
Tested out old gold patina on one of the elements. Seems like a good background color for gold hilights and since getting metal powders in Poland is such pain in the butt I might be using only patinas and waxes. Gonna look less realistic and more game like which is actually not a bad thing . This week I'll order additional gold, copper and silver patinas to play around with them on casts of left and right plates that should be ready withing next few days. I'm also considering using hinges such as these:
Thx guys . Here's a theoretical color scheme for the logo. The real one will be definitely less hi-contrast. Without black it actually looks really nice so I will have to decide how much wax I wanna use
Mold is... average at best and my first mold (left frame) is really bad but I know how to make it work, yay! Rest of the elements are from second casting and they look much better, almost normal .
Wood I bought started cracking in the middle section which means I will have at least 33% material less than I thought... Heh, gotta find out what is the cause.
