Overall I am very pleased with this. I could nit-pick some of the details. But I don't want to detract from all that is good about it.

Is there any possibility of upgrading these w/metal parts? Or are they pretty much solid resin?

Thanks for the reviews guys! Although I had no doubt this was going to be a great piece. I can't wait to receive mine! :love

I received #69 today. Outstanding packaging, both attractive and protective. Like G17RDY, I've experienced some glitches with the eletronics. The switch has to be treated pretty gingerly. Occasionally the front LED will light up, but the counter won't, or the counter will start at some random number. At fist, symptoms changed with a light tap on the side, suggesting a loose connection. Interestingly, it's become a more stable as I've played with it. I'm curious to know if there is a safe way to access to the electionics so I can check the connections.

As others have mentioned, there are minor finishing flaws, but nothing I'm too concerned about. I may have to put a dab of graphite or something on the trigger, as it currently squeaks when pulled. Again, no big deal. The stand is excellent, very heavy and stable.

Overall I'd give this piece an 8 out of 10. It's well executed at a reasonable price. I love the heft. It's weighty enough to be a real firearm. The primary improvements I'd like to see would be the addition of the strobe charging sound, a few metal parts and hand delivery by Milla Jovovich.

The jury's still out on the electronics, but I have to say that I'm quite pleased and I would recommend this blaster to others.

So Mike, I take it this is all resin? No metal at all on it?

None that I can see.

I can't see an easy way to dismantle any of it. To be honest there are no obvious seams or parting lines (which is a plus). There's nothing to stop you sawing off parts and replacing them, but you won't catch me trying! :rolleyes

Ok so i had to open mine up to check it over, and the news is disspointing. The electronics are screwed!!! :cry
Switch it on and sometimes is displays 999, but most of the time, i get either 111, YYY, 90, 1, 0 or some other ramdom number. When it does display 999, it does count down, sometimes, but mostly is will go to 90, 0 or blank etc.
I thought about displaying my edition number on the counter, (cool idea :cool) but i cant get past 960ish before it craps out on me. I managed to leave 999 up, but after a while it will go to 9, or something.

Ahhhh, just my luck, preordered this sucker way back when the propstore first listed it, and eaglerly awaited its arrival. Now its going back, which is a real pity as i really liked the edition #369 for some reason.

The switch is tempremental, wiggle is from side to side and i loose the display, or it shows a whacky number.

Overall the finish although not 100% perfect is good, my only real beef with the finish is on the bottom of the grip, The line which separates the grip insert is not clear, its rough.

I really wanted to start testing the battery life as well, to see how long i could retain my edition number on the LED display, as it would be cool to have constantly on.

Ah well, i'm sure the propstore will sort me out in the morning.

All said and done, thanks to HCG for an outstanding replica, i love it. Great piece and it looks awesome on that stand. Well done, give yourselves a pat on the back (ps i am being sincere here not sarcastic, although i have a problem with the electronics, it still hasn't taken anything away from the fact that this is one awesome replica, i am proud to own and display)

Guys ,
just a note on the screwiy counters. these come with batteries i take it.
maybe they are week, digital displays do wacky things when they get low voltage. try new alky's. and be sure the batteries are tight in the holder.
john :cool

Sage advice...

Thanks John,
I will certainly give that a go. The blaster comes with two large 'watch' batteries, i have checked they are tight in the holder, however i will remove and re-install / replace and see how i get on.
Thanks
Gordy

I received #69 today.

Uh-huhhuhhuh, he said sixty-nine. Huh-huhhuhhuh. :cool

Mine's #73. I like the piece so far. Haven't noticed any wonkiness with the electronics or counter. The trigger seems solid, no squeaks. My only nit is that I don't want to leave it out to collect dust. I'd really like some kind of acrylic top to fit over the base. I thought about trying to make one/have one made, but the base is narrow enough and has rounded top edges so that a top wouldn't fit onto the base. Just a little effort on HCG's part could've made those adjustments so us neat freaks could get a top to fit the base. Oh, well. It's still nice, and I liked the price very much.

A charging sound would've been nice too, I 'spose. :lol

Got mine today, but the trigger is very wobbly and can almost be pushed up inside the body, though it works the 'tronics ok though. Normal or not?

Anyone taken down one of these yet?

SAS

Well guys the good news is that i have managed to sort out the problem with the blaster, its now good as new. WooHoo

After arranging with the propstore (awesome customer service yet again!) to send it back, the night before it was due to be collected i had a reall really good look at what i could, short of opening the blaster up, as i really wanted to sort it out, rather than send it back.

Turns out the battrey holder, one of the contacts wasn't making 100%, so i managed to fix that out, and put in a new set of batteries and it started to work a treat.

So if you have any problems with the electronics, check the battery contacts and replace your batteries, it seemed to work for me!!

Thanks for the solid advice guys, if it wasn't for you, i'd be one blaster short right now, and quite unhappy.

Thanks to the guys at propstore.

Repositioning the battery holder calmed my electronic woes as well (still using the batteries that shipped with the blaster).

Ordering was quick and easy. I ordered on the 15th and it arrived today (23rd). Here's a pic comparing it to the one I've had for a couple of years.

I haven't put the batteries in, yet. Assuming the electronics are problem free, it seems to be a good deal for a licensed (and presumably accurate) replica of a prop gun including electronics. This thing is SCREAMING for a couple of metal upgrades. The easy ones (from a machining standpoint) would be the muzzle, the tapered rod on top and the two discs. I don't know if they are easily removeable from the prop, however.
