Having trouble with the hinge on my working Mark X Tricorder

I'm finally getting close to finishing my Mark X with electronics and I'm having a hell of a time with the hinges. I haven't had any trouble wiring them up, I'm just having trouble keeping a constant current. I also tried to get a new set of hinges to just replace them, but I had the same problems with those hinges as well. I'm not to sure if there are any other solutions to this.

Anyone got ideas?

I am not familiar with the Mark X hinge although I suspect it could be something to do with the painting. Since you have changed to a new hinge, from what you described could be a connectivity problem.

If you have painted the hinge or puttied it and then connect the wire to the screw before screwing in the hinge, it might be that.

But please do show a nice good macro shot of the hinge as thins might help in dentifying the problem.
