Haslab Ghost Trap & PKE Meter

Makes sense. But as always FedEx’s estimates are wrong, not even out for delivery today. Will probably come tomorrow.

Thought I'd share my quick-and-easy mods to help take these items out of the toy world and make them look a bit more prop-like...

I like my Ghostbusters gear old, dirty, and abused. And although the weathering on this set is nice as far as it goes, a heavy layer of black acrylic wash (about 50-50) helped take it to the next level:

The wet wash was applied with a big paintbrush, and then removed with dry cotton balls.
Maybe I overdid it a little, but I like it dirty!

For the trap, I did the same thing, including the interior.
There is also a molded "electrical tape" feature at the elbow bend of the handle. I covered this with real electrical tape for realism.

I felt the hose needed the biggest mod, so in addition to the black wash, I also wrapped it in 1/4" ID split loom tubing, wrapped the ends with red electrical tape, and clamped the ends down with small cable ties.

Now they're ready for display and cosplay. :)

These look fantastic. I heartily agree that the more weathering, the better. Ghostbusting is heavy work!

Just got mine in Wisconsin. Havent payed with anything yet but wanted to do a quick comparison to the Matty PKE which was pretty accurate in size and shape to an original Iona. Man this thing is a chunk. Bit I can forgive it being that its a later model in universe. Strangly it's got a metal threaded hole in the bottom that happens to be the same size as a standard camera moutning screw, so you can put it on a tripod?

I was thinking of making a few mods. Is the trap cable an off the shelf thing that they repurposed? Can anybody ID it? Kinda looks like my buddies music equipment.
What about the dixie cup mounts on the trap and belt attachment? I don't like the fake leather and metal holster thingy and would like to make an upgrade.

Thanks for any info. :)

That camera mount is a great idea. Tons of ways to hook it to a belt. Between the gizmo, walkie talkie, trap, and pke it's a bit tight to keep fitting leather mounts.

really enjoying these toys.

High level:

the trap is incredibly low, but the weight, feel and sheer switches/buttons make this thing a steal for the price.
the Pke meter is a lot of fun. Tho it's a bit too big and not as comfortable in the hand. but the weight, and the spotty EMF, is tons of fun!

I still prefer the Matty collector trap & meter, but the haslab really knocked it out of the park for the price and quality. big time happy.

Does anyone know if these will be available for purchase from Haslab down the road? like the neutrona wand is? I missed the backing and the second hand market on these is crazy pricy

probably not unless they do a randon backlot sale like they did once with a couple extra proton packs. It was a Haslab.

I know I will be pretty upset if they do. Personally when I buy into something like this it's based on the idea that this is an exclusive run. I'm not paying for Hasbros tooling in advance and of they try that stuff I won't even consider backing another project again. Why would you if you knew you could just get it later if you wanted?

In general, Hasbro has not released the Haslab products for sale after their release.

The wand was not a Haslab project, but the pack was. That’s why you can still buy the wand from Hasbro but not the pack.

I suspect the same will be true for the Two in the Box set.

Be patient. Prices in the secondary market will come down after the initial hype dies down.

From what I've seen the prices actually go up over time because the available inventory for sale goes down. Go lookup the recent sales for the Haslab proton pack. The two most recent sales on Ebay are $1,200 and $1,500. You could definitely get them for much less than that last year.
