Hasbro uses Force FX?

I picked up one of the new Hasbro saber on the WalMart sale a few weeks ago.

I noticed they are still called Force FX.

Wasn't that a Master Replicas thing?

Did they buy the name from them?

Yep, and it's basically the exact same product, just the company name change from MR to Hasbro on the box.

from what I heard they also bought the molds and factory, so basically everything changed over and then added more plastic, probably to cut down on manufactoring costs.

I got an anakin Ep 3 and it's fantastic. I snagged it during the WalMart sale. $50.97 shipped. It arrived the next day via FedEx. It's brighter and sounds better than my double Maul, but that's probably due more to The Mauls tech being a tad older.

MR usually retailed for $119, but it seems the Hasbros are generally retailing between $89 - $99. You can usually find a good deal on eBay though.

I think Hasbro stated the MSRP would remain the same, but they will now manufacture them themselves. They are tight lipped about new designs too. I got my fingers crossed for a Dooku!

And the Anakin is pretty bright, but the reason it looks brighter is just the blue light. Despite the science stuff of how we see red better, red light looks dimmer. I'm sure on a light meter they register the same

Hey guys, first post here! There's an official statement from Hasbro, that they are going to release 3 new Force-fx sabers. One is the Obi-wan TPM, and the Other is the Dooku. The 3rd has not been named, but in all Likelihood, it will be the Qui-gon. You can find the article through google search, for Hasbro lightsaber interview.

So did MR lose the Star Wars licence? Anyone know why? Sorry to ask but I didn't hear about this!

The multi-conglomerate that bought MR a while back didn't like the price Lucasfilm was asking to renew the license. The gentleman who started MR (whose name I can't remember) started a new company called EFX. He sold all his molds and electronic stuff from the FX sabers to Hasbro (who aquired a license to produce FX lightsabers), and used the funds to purchase a new license from Lucasfilm allowing EFX to continue making what MR was essentially always making Star Wars-wise....minus the FX sabers.

At least, this is what I have learned pieceing together various stories about the whole mess, so I could be mistaken about some facts.

Does any one know if there are any improvements to the motion-detection circuitry?

My MR would "jam" and would make a lot of runaway "woo-woo" sounds even if I wasn't really moving the blade all that much.

Hopefully the Hasbro FX sabers don't have this problem.

Well, I only own an MR Double Maul and a Hasbro Anakin, but the Anakin definitely handles and reacts MUCH better then the Maul. My Maul tends to do nothing on a swing, but "woo-woos," as you say, if I only jostle the hilt a bit.

I've handled a friend's Second Gen MR ANH Vader, and it seemed to work as well as my Hasbro Anakin. So this might be more an issue of dated tech than a company change. It's hard to say.

Regardless, in my experience, the Hasbros react better than the MRs.

Because of its curved shape, let’s hope the Dooku isn’t disproportioned too badly to accommodate the blade and electronics.

Well, if you check the classic Hasbro electronic saber rendition of the Dooku, apart from being oversized, it isn't all that bad. Since I'd assume they're actually attempting a better pass at accuracy with the FX line, it should (fingers crossed) be okay.

Well, I hope they evolution of these products continues.
They were getting better and better. Less batterys, louder, brighter, a bit more robust in the blade.

I assume the Dooku will have the straight forward handgrip like the Rubies and the ROTS stunt, and therefore look stupid and suck.
