Limited Run Hasbro Millennium Falcon Resin Kit

Hey, FZ. See from the last message from Mike you copied to the thread that he mentioned cockpits in addition to the headlights - I may have missed it, but did you guys end up deciding to ship out the updated version of the cockpit cones along with the headlights?

Hey Timmy.

I think that yes. Mike will be sending the updated cockpit and the headlights to all the guys that have bought the Level kits. Mike is working on them at full throttle! :D

Tony, just out of curiosity, but where is Mike sending the packages from? This may help me manage my 'expectations' RE: the delivery times.
Thank you!
Regards, Robert

He's sending the packages from USA, so delivery times are reduced within the States. I've emailed him; he must be very busy, really, sending the packs and casting parts.

As soon as I get some news, I will let you know.

Many thanks for your patience.

Again, sorry to be a pest. As you noted, Mike should be very pre-occupied with with the actual parts production. Just wish there was some mechanism for him to provide daily, running updates to the status of the orders. Then folks could just 'pop in' and check it without being a bother.

What are you expecting? Microsoft?? LOL Don't worry... it'll get to you I'm sure... I know when I placed my order for my DeAgo I was always waiting and wondering when it was gonna come, but it did and all is right with the world! I would rather not know and let it be a surprise like on Christmas! :)

Waiting on styrene is one thing. Waiting on resin in the summer is another. I'm having to adjust my schedule to meet the mailman so parts don't sit warping in a hot mailbox. Given that we were told on 7-21 that parts would be sent out the following week, I've been doing this all month. It's reasonable at this point to start inquiring a little. Someone had asked about emails being sent when parts were "actually" sent and some tracking info. These are good questions to ask during a record hot summer regarding resin parts. I know people are busy producing this kit and others. But we are busy too. A little information and communication goes a long way. That's all anyone is asking for.

My mail arrives at high noon and I don't see resin parts holding up very well in my oven of a mailbox for more than a few hours. It's one more thing to have to worry about. And it's frustrating to do that for 20-30 days. I'm not worried that they won't get here. They will. I've worked with Mike before. But I've always gotten an email with tracking when they went out and I've never had them arriving in August. So I AM a little worried. Just saying. I'm not trying to be a jacko or anything. I just want my parts to be in good shape.

Hey guys, I received my parts yesterday (Aug 24th) after 3 days in the post. I live in southeastern Virginia & Mike is out of Connecticut, so that is pretty good delivery speed. The parts were bubble-wrapped in a sturdy cardboard box, sent via USPS Priority Mail so it has a tracking ID.

Initially, I thought I might be missing a part (the short sidewall between the cockpit tube & the docking tunnel) but found it in the 'greeblies' bag with the "radar" & gun parts (I had gotten the Level 2 parts bundle - perhaps because that particular sidewall part has a bit of curvature molded into it with heavy detail so it isn't flexible?) All the gray resin castings are very good with some minor flash, some casting 'artifacts' (aka 'sprue') & just a tiny bit of bubble on a couple of thin part features. Overall, Mike has done a great job on the casting (almost looks like he is pressure casting...) The gun barrel parts are provided as separate pours plus there is an extra barrel with each gun mount (looks like a trident.) There is minimal 'out-of-round' (cockpit cone & dish) & 'wavy' warpage, easily addressed by using clamp forms and a hot water dip. Mike packed the sidewalls on cardboard to protect 'em & keep them flat, so some shaping is required anyway for the curved portions (I think I may have a bowl I can use...) The details are crisp, even where there are undercuts, so minimal refinement would be needed (none, really - certainly superior to the rest of detailing on the Hasbro toy itself.)

The accuracy of the details is also very good, from a cursory check of what images I can find on the web. There is no guidance on the parts application, but it is pretty self-explanatory. I expect that all of the existing sidewall on the Hasbro will have to be removed in order to achieve a correct 'setback'. This will require constructing a bit of structure to maintain the integrity of the hull & to provide support. I thought I might just try sanding the resin parts to thin them, but even then, the depth of the 3D parts are still likely to require further inset.

Overall, I am quite happy with the parts & knowing the effort invested in the production makes me appreciate the cost. I'm just glad to be able to 'participate' in this "enterprise"!

With Tony & Mike's parts, plus the other available detail parts now available (thinking cockpit, etc. at Shapeways), the modeler can quickly create a fine replica of the 32" filming miniature using the Hasbro toy at a very reasonable cost. Now, my biggest challenge will be carving out the time to take this 'embarrassing' wealth of material to its conclusion!

Regards, Robert

Thanks for your opinion.

If your parts doesn't arrive, or have been sitting on a hot mailbox and melt, don't worry, you will receive a new ones. Guaranteed.

This is my first time working with Mike and I see that's he's working all the time and improving every time. I'm happy with his work. He's a professional.

He has been recasting the new cabin cones version -more accurate- and the mandible headlights, an Easter egg -for free- for all the guys. He will be sending too -for free- the new cabin cone to the guys that have bought one of the Level kit with the cone included.

He's worried about sending these parts to everybody as soon as possible. And he's casting the kits and parts too. So I don't have to blame on Mike for nothing.

On the other hand I've to say that yes, sending a tracking number will be needed, and a little bit more communication. I'm trying to communicate all the news that I'm receiving from Mike and answering all the messages and posts on the same day. This is my first time too managing this situation and I think that isn't too bad, really?

Mike is a great guy, a great professional as far as I can see.

This project is a very big project. Mike will be casting a big number of kits at the end of this run, maybe one of his biggest runs.

All of you guys are great mates, very patients, and I appreciate so much your support.

We will try to improve.

Best

I agree. Everyone is doing a great job and I appreciate the work that has been put into it by all parties and the opportunity to get them. I also appreciate the response to my concern. I've never received resin in the summer. I have had kits and parts warp in storage under even mildly warm conditions in my home. Thus, my concern. I just want to get to them as quickly as possible and accurate knowledge about when they are arriving would really help a lot. If these are being sent with tracking available, an email or PM with the number would really, really help a lot.

I've had to fix warped parts before. In some instances it was easy. In others it was simply impossible. I'd rather not have to do it at all if I can prevent it. And I'd like to avoid having to request new parts if that can be prevented. That's a hassle for everyone.

And there is, admittedly, the issue of my just not being able to wait because I want them soooo bad.

I'll likely be wanting further upgrades as well. Hopefully that will happen when it's a little cooler. Autumn is only 30 days away. Thank God. It's miserable out there.

One more comment & then I'll step aside to make room for the slavering hordes of customers awaiting their turn. (I kid, of course. Any puddles of drool are probably my own...)

In case it wasn't quite clear (as I tend to run on at the fingers) Mike has done a fine job with the production & the delivery was nicely done too, so no worries. I can certainly see why Tony has voiced his confidence in his 'partner' in this venture while his masters hit the mark. My own agitation during the waiting period should have been tempered by my age & wisdom (ha!) but at least I can offer reassurance to the rest that:
- The parts look great
- They are real and
- They will arrive.

If I had simply turned my attention to one of the hundreds of other projects, then I might have avoided some self-induced stress. Personality flaw, I expect.
Congrats to Tony & Mike, fine work!

Regards, Robert

Please, we're waiting for some payments to be made to start the 7th batch run casting...

And there are two guys that haven't sent his data.

This is a delay on the batch and a delay for the guys that have already paid.

Our idea is that the guys were receiving the resin kit two weeks after payment. If we have a one-two weeks delay on some payments, the resin kit shipping will be delayed one or two weeks...

Many thanks for your understanding and support!
