So, what happened to this product? I have not seen it, and it was suppose to be available last month. Was this delayed or cancelled?

Any links or more info?

I know EE claims a Feb. release, and the colors have changed.

I heard yesterday that the NERF line was cancelled due to the fact that they look so "real," and that retailers didn't want to carry them. Apparently they're pulling the electronic blasters from the shelf too. Now granted this didn't come from an inside source, but someone who keeps on these sorts of things.

I heard that it was just Toys R Us that was pulling them. One of the guys in my RL base called up Hasbro, and they said they were going to put them out in Feb.

OFC, Feb. is now, and I haven't seen anything (TRU has nothing, and all Target has is a bunch of the spring sabers)

I hope they put 'em out.

According the Hasbro rep that that RL member talked to, the pull from store shelves was a local thing for that store, or TRU stores in that area in Virginia.

There are new pics on on GalacticHunter.com that are much better than what we have seen before. Now it is blue.. :confused
It is of course shorter than the real thing. The bottom of the handgrips looks weird also..

Btw. Previously the suggested retail price has been said to be $26.97 .

Yeah, they did something to the Sterling grip. Earlier photos looked more accurate.

Or maybe not. Never had a good look at the grip before:

I was very impressed by these in person at the San Diego comic-con (of course they had a black paint job them.) They were very nice, so much so that for poor folks like myself I had already planned on turning them into a display peice. Now it will take a bit more paint, but still very nice (not the horrible oversized gun replicas of my youth :eek )

When I was co-oping at Hasbro I got the chance to look at these (and give my opinion on the detail colors of the clone blaster- the star wars team loved me since I was 501st). In my opinion the DH-17 is a very good size and proportioned well. Much like the hasbro stormtrooper blaster. Some paint and a little other work and you'd have yourself a fine replica piece and a good trooping piece. The scope is really good looking on it.
The clone trooper is undersized for anything. I would say its scaled down to about 2/3 the size of a real one so as to be about the same size as the DH-17.

The stormtrooper blaster is neither of those things. :confused

Okay, true. It's not screen acurate by any means or anything, that's not really what I meant to say.

More from the everyday costumer perspective, it will get the job done. For the hardcore prop and replica person, it will be a bit of a joke. It is what it is; a child's toy.

Hey, thanks for bringing this up. I had no idea about it.

I think the bump at the bottom of the grip is for the battery cover to fit, as on the NiteFinder. You can see on the full size pic a join line.

Well, for a kids toy, it should paint up pretty good. ;)

(Apologies to the pic owners - I could not resist.)

'Filled' a couple of seamlines, and trimmed off the grip bump. Also got rid of the molded logo.

Any idea when these should hit the UK?

Awesome photoshop Coz.. I can't wait to get one of these. I made a PVC DH-17 for my RFT costume. I spent a lot of time building it, but I know it looks like what it is.. a PVC blaster.

I think one problem for me will be to decide whether or not to make it non-functional and remove the cocking mechanism, or leave it as it is.

Cut off the end of the cocking lever and attach a chain link is what I am planning to do. More accurate and functional as a nerf toy to surprise the stormies while trooping.

But knowing me... I'l probably spend forever "accurizing" the blaster so it will never be ready for use.

Thanks JediRacer. :)
Darth Lars - good call on the cocking idea.

Hey, I wonder if Nerf could do a whole movie weapons line?.

Could be cool:

Oh that is BRILLIANT...... I can't stand it. My sides hurt and I can't catch my breath. Best laugh I've had in a while. Thanks for that.

Now you've got me wondering: Could any of the current line of Nerf be converted to a Blade Runner pistol? Hmmmm :D
