Has anyone done metal casting off of 3D prints? (custom lightsaber parts)

Hey I'm just curious if anyone on here has used 3D prints to make cast metal parts? I've seen a few videos of people using special PLA filament that's made for casting (lost PLA I guess?). I thought it might be a cheat to those of us without a lathe/milling machine.

Seems doable if you could find the proper filament to mimic wax. No clue on that but I think the methodology makes sense

Never heard of that but it seems feasible... Of course you could also print a positive model and then create a negative mold from it, and using a non-evaporative process.

My kid is going to be visiting in a few weeks and wants to do some metal casting, so this has got me thinking...

Ive seen plenty of plating videos but this is interesting?
