Hi everyone,

Last week I posted some pics of a Death Eater mask with a custom spellbook I made. A few people asked if I'd write a tutorial on how to make these books, so here it is.

I've put it together over on instructables.com as they convert the whole thing into a neat little PDF, which I can now post here.

You can look online at..

...or download the PDF from this post.

It's not much more than a little weekend project, but they're a nice addition to a Potter display. Let me know if you give it a go, and post the results please!

Cheers

Pete

Hey, this is FANTASTIC! Thanks for sharing! I've never tackled anything like this before, but I think I'm going to give it a shot!! Really great! Thanks again!

Thank you Pette SSS for shaing this with us. Im going to try my hand at one. I love the Harry Potter series, and would love to have some of these books on a shelf.

Nice tutorial - thanks for sharing. I'll be on the lookout for some suitably "ruined" books next time I pass by the Goodwill shop.

Amazing tutorial, and beautiful work. I've never actually made a prop before, but it looks like i might give this one a shot!

As luck would have it, after reading the instructable just last night, I stumbled upon a vast quantity of old law books today.
I am going to try my hand at this prop and I am willing to sell some if anyone is interested. :$ Some volumes are in nice shape and some date back to 1904 (they are a bit more ragged)
Here's a pic:

Mmm, so new and ready to be distressed, abused, grimified, torn, and all sorts of other things.

I can't wait to see that book when it's all weathered up!

An exceptionally informative tutorial mate....

In my opinion this shows not only a superior result but the fact that good artistic inventiveness can create a beautiful result.

You are a gifted fellow. :)

Many thanks for sharing

regards

MARK
