Harry Potter Props for Noob

Firstly, Thank you all for an incredible source of info and talent! I have been a member on the Alien Legacy forum for a number of years (albeit a mostly silent member) and a lurker her off and on for about 3 years. I finally made it official and joined this board a few weeks ago.

I have mostly spent my time cruising all of the old threads to try and catch up and all I can say is WOW. I am amazed by the incredible talent on this board by all members.

OK enough about me and my butt kissing.

I recently re-discovered Harry Potter and would like to make a few easy props for myself. I already purchased Juno's incredible Hogwart's train ticket and am trying to make a invite letter for myself with the info already provided on this board. I know I am probably a little late to some of these props. The threads I have looked at hint at some good images but a lot are missing after a few years.

I guess my question is that if anyone has any images that could help me make some good paper props, could you re-post them here? Any help would be appreciated. OR if anyone is already making some of these, please let me know.

I am especially interested in Honeydukes candy reproductions like Bertie Botts beans and chocolate frog boxes. I am attempting to make a chocolate frog box and cards. If anyone has any high rez images I would be very grateful. I am also looking for a source of the gold embossed star foil for the insides of the box.

Many of the candy box images I believe come from the same clip art source. Does anyone know what this source may be?

Sorry if I just dumped a whole lot out there at once but I am eager to take advantage of the wealth of info this board can provide.:redface

Thanks in advance,
Mike (feide)

I haven't got time right now to post links, but if you search through the Harry Potter Props Thread and the paper Props you Can find some paper props form HP, I think I have a Hogwarts Invite Letter and the sirius wanted poster on my computer somewhere, if you're intrested, shoot me a PM.

Madchinaman - Thanks for the info! I did find these already as I was going through the existing threads and was eagerly grabbing stuff that was still available. I was more interested in the earlier stuff that I may have missed because the links were old or removed etc.

Ivanhotep - Thanks, that is one I haven't seen before. A question about this, how do most people make a prop from the image you provided? I would imagine option 1 would be to use it as a reference to re-produce or the second option would be to directly use the image, clean it up in photoshop and print it. What does everyone recommend?

Thanks,
Mike

It's going to be some of both. Sometimes you get lucky and the font can be identified and bought relatively cheaply. Sometimes you suck it up, free hand it, and scan it in. Sometimes the screen cap is clean enough, and close enough to straight on that you ticker with it a little and print it off. It often takes a little of each to get a decent, finished product on your shelf.
