Harry Potter: Hogwarts Textbooks

I'm glad I got to help you! Keep me posted on the covers that you make cause I'd love to have a copy for myself!

How would you make cover look like it was a real book? If I wanted to fill a bookshelf with these how would I go about that?

Well.. if someone gets the box and scans the photo, we can see what we can do. Until then, those photos are way too small to do anything.

Norbert, I don't know what signed photo we are doing. Clue me in?

My box should ship in a few days, I ordered it in like Nov, but it was backordered, I'll gladly scan it! :)

@Ghost - Thanks for linking to the other thread :) I hadn't even thought about that

@Luke - All the book covers we have been making are textured. All you have to do is print them out onto paper and glue them to an old book you have laying around. If you don't have any laying around, stop by your local Goodwill store. They have hardbacks for about $2 a piece, and it goes to a good cause. Two birds, one stone. Are you just getting the Harry Potter box, or did you get all three? If you could, scan anything thats flat and photograph anything else. Can make a lot more stuff with some nice images! Mine wont be here til April :( they keep getting pushed back. Originally, it was January ><

@lukeforester1: I would love to see the photos from the box when you get it. As far as the signed photo the one of lockhart on the broom that Hinkypunk did ready

Hi all, I've just recently joined and am really blown away by your work on here! I was thinking I'd like to do some Harry Potter stuff, but it looks like most things are covered - and better than I could do them. I might make Luna's list because I can do that myself with a pen instead of a print-out, that would be cool to put on my fridge!

Just decided to look through this thread because my girlfriend likes Harry Potter and her birthday is coming up. I am truly impressed by the work displayed here. Now, if only some of the other fan bases showed this amount of work and dedication...

@Norbert
I just got a notice from noble today saying my boxes that were supposed to ship two weeks ago wont actually come until the beginning of april.

@Hinkypunk
You should read norbert's message too. If it's not too much work, could you release the book covers w/out textured backing? That way I could print JUST the content of the cover on a book that actually has that texture?
I also have tentative plans to go back to WWoHP this summer, I have a 200mm lens, would it be helpful if I could get some good close up shots of books, hog's head drink labels, and potions stuff? I'd be happy to if it could be of use!

@luke - how are you going to print onto a book first off

second, yes, taking a cam there would be extremely helpful and very much appreciated if you would do that!

The same way anyone prints directly on a book, I know a book printer who said he would do it for me for not too much money. Still can't thank you enough for all the awesomeness you've created!!!

OK all, started making some of the books. These are printed with 8.5 x 11 paper, the green book was the largest at just over 10 inches tall, but I was able to do it by printing three pieces. First the spines, alowing about .5 inch wrap on to the sides - glued that on first, then printed the sides, and gled them all. I used canvas type paper to give it some texture. They are nice place holders until I am wealthy and can afford the tooling to do the foil embossed replicas. Enjoy!
