Harry Potter Boathouse Model

Hi!

I'm a recent graduate from the University of Hertfordshire and have just finished my Final Major Project; a 32nd scale model of the Hogwarts Boathouse (as seen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2). Any opinions on it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :) _5100213.JPG_5100175.JPG_5100205.JPG

Stunning! Did you model all of the interior as well?

Thank you! At the moment there is nothing inside the interior of the model, but in the next couple of weeks I'll hopefully add some boxes and barrels and oars etc.

This is the interior of the model as it stands now _5100214.JPG

Lotsa Potter modellove around here recently. :) Fabulous !!!

It's a beautiful piece. Nicely detailed and finished. The quai is a bit rougher than the boathouse, but it's suitable.

Btw, can you show some build pics ? We love to see how you did it.

Thanx. Keep goin'.

Cheers,
Wasili

Thanks a lot! :) Here are some of the build photos (I'm hoping you can see them all at a reasonable size!)

Thanx for the pics !!!:popcorn

At first i was puzzled why you made a mold of the arches instead of simply putting together the lasered pieces, but now i see that the arches have a filleted profile. Nice.

Btw, that's some nice lasered pieces as well. What kind/brand of cast acrylic does the University use ? The quality of the acrylic has an effect on the endresult.

Can you tell a bit more on the paints you used ?

Once again thanx for the pics.

Cheers,
Wasili

Thanks, yeah the arches required a lot of filling and assembly, that's why they were moulded. I tend to use altuglas acrylic for most of my lasercutting :)

The model is entirely Handpainted in acrylics, as simple as that :)

Thanks

Oh Lordy, I can't believe I missed this. This is GORGEOUS! You have done a magnificent job on this. It is top-notch work and absolutely screen-worthy.

You have a very bright future ahead of you. Thanks for sharing your talents!

Did you ever have the intention to immerse (your model) in actual water?

Haha not really. It was briefly thought about but the model needs to be moved to varying locations, and it caused unneccessary complications. The water on this model was a particular challenge, but for the most part it seems to have turned out ok :)

Simply amazing!!!! I am a huge Harry Potter fan and instantly recognized the building.

Thank you! It's interesting you should say that, you might well be the first to recognise the building (certainly the first to tell me!), you really must be a big Potter fan ;-)

Amazing work! It looks brilliant gem20!!

The attention to the deatil is quite impressive.
True potterish quality.

Thanks for sharing your work with us. ;)

Absolutely love it! I'd like to make a Harry Potter themed diorama for my Snape figure, and I think I'm going to do a portion of the boathouse for it. Never made a model before, hope mine can turn out half as good as yours! Amazing!

Thank you very much everyone!!! :-D I've recently added a few small details to the model, just to finish it off.....so here are some updated photos :) _6030267.JPG_6030282.JPG_6030289.JPG_6030294.JPG_6030298.JPG
