Done / Completed Harry Potter - Advanced Potion Making

It looks great but I want to have more information. What about the pages? Will they be all readable?

If you go to the first post Snowfire links to the previous run and in that thread there is a video of him flipping through the pages. It appears that all pages are full and appear correct like a textbook. [emoji106]

And just so I'm clear on the costs of the book; 150 british pounds is roughly $217.00 US dollars correct? Plus shipping across the pond to the US (near Seattle, WA) would add...?

And, what are the exact dimensions of the book? Is it close to "screen accurate" to size from the movies? The video looks like a smaller rectangular pamphlet, but it may just be proof of concept for the pages. It definitely looks a tad smaller than the book here, but it may just be the angle too.

The previous run of the books looked awesome, but seemed to be a much higher cost for the aged versions ($450-600 US dollars). What's the difference between the first run and this run with respect to the look of the book? It is hard bound with a cloth cover, correct?

I was bummed with the last run, just because of cost, but this run seems way more reasonable price wise for an awesome prop.

Thanks much!

All very good questions. Interested in the answers as well.

Hi Nuggett,

Yes it is £150 for the book itself and shipping is most likely going to be £15, total around $230 (roughly).

As I said, the video of the flipping through the pages was purely a 'test print' on the cheapest of cheapest paper and book that there was. It was purely to make sure it printed in the correct format and for me to read through and check for spelling mistakes etc and test some handwriting styles on the pages.

The final product will be a hardbound book on either a canvas or a cloth cover. I am hoping to go with cloth, but trying to find a colour match and correct size is proving difficult at the moment. If not, I will stick with canvas and it will look like the picture printed on the first post and size wise will be as screen accurate as possible. I have the foiling to perfection and I promise when you receive your copy you will be amazed.

All pages will be readable with different content on each page and there is 302 of them!! The book will be aged just like the first run, only thing different on this one is the handwritten notes are all going to be digital. I don't have the time to write every book individually and this would bump the price up to over $500 otherwise. I can however guarantee that this book is going to be even better than the last one, and due to finding a very good printer company, I can offer this run a lot cheaper.

Huge update incoming soon, just want to give you a proper one rather than a few snippets.

Sold! Thanks Snowfire.

The prop looks great. I'm pumped to get a copy of this run. I'm a definite "yes" to add on the list.

Thanks so much for the reply!

Hi all, I know I said I wouldn't take deposits, but this project has got a lot more response than I thought. I’ve had a huge interest on a HP group that I am a member of and therefore I will be making books in order of payments. You don't have to pay a deposit and yes you still will get a book, but there may be a back log on the wait time unfortunately, as I can roughly make around 25 books a month, but still plan to limit this project to a max of 50-100 dependent on time.

I will have a big update for you very soon as well, just working hard on the completion of this. You will be pleased to hear though that I am still on schedule to get this sent to the printers by the end of the month, then get the first batch out ready for around the end of June.

I've had no luck with the cloth, so I am going to stick with canvas but feel that it still looks just as good. Size wise everything is spot on and formatting has come out very nice

Eeek forgot to say usually take half up front then remainder when delivery is ready.

Thanks all.

If you have either paid a deposit or full payment and don't see it marked down on the list, please send me a message with your delivery address details and I will match it up. Had a few payments with no delivery address or user name, so not sure who they belong to.

Thanks.

Hi all,

You can have opinions and such as this is your book after all. How does everyone feel about this style of writing?

Hi all,

I don't mind the typeface, but the perfect alignment of the rows, consistent size reveals that it's a font. Could it be placed on imperfect paths, with some arbitrary variation in size between characters? I knew this round of books would have printed type rather than hand-written, but I had assumed the "master" text would be hand written, then scanned for reproduction in the printed copies. Is that impossible? I'm kicking myself pretty hard for not getting a copy from your original run!

Thanks SF!

This exactly. The perfect alignments as well as font uniformity are a dead give away for typed font. I understand some things may be cost prohibitive and will accept it as you leave it as long as the exterior is accurate. Imo top of the list for me would to offset alignment slightly on the handwriting and second to be to do something to mix up the font style.
Otherwise looks great!

I should have mentioned before everyone bites my head off lol!!! The book is going to be hand written and scanned in so alignment text size ink splodges, all that will look different. I just meant to ask do you like the style of that font, as that is how the hand writing is going to look. Hope that makes sense?
