Harrison Ford: "Get the BLEEP out of my house!"

I'm more interested in how he did the ice pick trick. On that note, Aaron Paul's reaction was pure Pinkman, give or take a "bi@#h" or two. :lol

I think my favorite moment might have been Woody Harrelson's reaction...or perhaps when Will Smith tried to stab his wife with the ice pick. :lol

Funny that on a prop board we are discussing tricks that a magician does on TV.

I am also a magician and have been for 40yrs.

This was a mental force of a card which is nothing new. The reaction was fantastic. They may have edited something from the start of the trick, I do not know but it is not necessary.
The ice pick through the hand and needle through the arm are newer principles and can be found online at ellusionist, theory11 and other magic shops.
The secret is rarely the trick. The magic is in the presentation.

Banacheck and others have written extensively about the mental force of a card and the principles of what you can do with it.
to some extent this type of trick is a holy grail known as ACAAN. Blaine and his team just added an impossible location.
ACAAN= Any Card at Any Number which is or can be a mentally selected card there are hundreds of methods.
Magic should be about entertainment and not so much about a puzzle to figure out how to do it.
The special by Blaine accomplished what it set out to do, it was well edited and well performed.
I generally do not like Blaine as he is too ho hum for me. I also do not like Chriss Angel because he is just bad from all aspects of magicdom both as a person and as a magician. To me I could see the influence of several magicians on Blaines presentation and that was a good thing for me to see from a magician stand point. I enjoyed the last special.

The secrets are out there for anyone with an interest and desire to get them, unlike the older days where secrets were special. There are still tricks which magicians cannot figure out that have gone to the grave with the inventors.

Don't want to derail this, but do want to add...completely agree w Mobius and the general idea that magic is in great presentation over method.

As to magic in prop forum...eh, I see a bit of a connection if not directly...I built many magic props, square circle, levitation, etc in my years. It's all connected to that artistic creative stuff.

To that end though, I do appreciate both Blaine and Angel, when Blaine hit public eye, most magicians were very showy, and his kinda non -chalant plainness stood out and brought refreshment...and similar to angel...he took a rock-star image and applied it to magic, yet again freshening the framework within which to present magic. Those presentations resonated enough to get tv time, and considering most of the acts I have on VHS from the 80's /90's tv specials won't stand up to today's tv audiences, I at least applaud the fact that some magic is still there and bringing in new spectators and keeping the art alive! ;)
