Hard to believe... 20 years since Jim Henson's passing

I didn't see another post about this, but it's amazing to me that it's been 20 years. Jim Henson's work and vision continue to affect and influence me and when I look back on the volume and variety of work that he created, it never fails to inspire me deeply...

Anyone else thinking about Jim today?

I know. he was a childhood icon to me, and someone I wanted to be like when I grew up. He is truely missed!!
 
Does anybody have the special from when he died? I lost my copy in Katrina. It was really good. The puppets noticed the people under them for the first time.
 
I recently re-watched that special on you-tube. Brought a tear to my eye when Kermit's nephew reads out the card and they all realise Jim has died. You can also find Henson's memorial service on there, too. Bigbird's tribute is very moving.
 
Reminds me a lot of the BTS doc on The Dark Crystal, where he talks about his dream of making a full-length motion picture using Muppets, but making it stand on its own as a real film and not a gimmick or "just a Muppet movie". And by golly.. he succeeded.
 
20 years, damn i remember that day, loved his work still do, he was and is a legend

I can't believe I was only 16 when he died. It seems like so much longer. We still watch lots of Muppets in my house, my kids love them.

That special was the first thing that popped to mind upon seeing the thread title. That, and that specific part of it. I remember being on the brink the whole show until that bit, then i just died laughing. I'll always remember that :)

I remember seeing some footage of his funeral, and everyone had those butterfyls on a rod that they use all the time.

I do miss him . . .I kinda got choked up sitting a watching Muppets 3D a while back, heraring his voice. Sigh . . . :cry
 
Jim Henson brought so much joy to my life, and to everyone's life. I can't imagine what the world would be like without the Muppets. I for one am thankful for the time we had with Jim, and for the gifts he gave us all. :thumbsup
 
20 years? Wow. I remember thinking that it as big a shock as the space shuttle blowing up. It was such a tragedy. I forget, was it pneumonia?
 
I just watched Fraggle Rock with my niece and nephew yesterday so yes. That's still one of my favorite shows and I still wonder what the Doozer's construction rods taste like! :lol
 
I love Fraggle Rock! Jim Henson had a simple idea: make a show that teaches people to live in harmony. So many great songs, too, especially any from Cantus the minstrel (Henson himself).
 
I have been watching Jim Hensons The Story Teller streamed from NetFlix. Retelling of fables with live actors and puppets. Good stuff.
