Actually, these stunts were used in both films. There are a couple press photos floating around in the interweb that show Luke using this type of blaster on Dagoba. Profiles seems to be right about this.

Interesting...so that scope mount was in use as early as ESB? I knew the base was at least an ESB stunt based on the flash hider and scope, but I thought perhaps they changed the scope mount and did the left side up ROTJ style for use in ROTJ. So this blaster as it is now was used for ESB? I did not know that.

Yes, They made the ESB stunt blasters like this and then adapted the stunt design when they made the Rotj hero blasters.

These props were cast off of the ANH blaster, with the scope mount removed. The Rotj scope mount was rigged up to fit over the existing scope mount points leftover from the ANH hero.

One interesting thing to note. Some people think this was from the same casting as the Merr-Son blaster. But this isn't so. You can see the difference in the way the flash hider is oriented, the position of the safety and the position of the sight.

I always liked the look of the blaster in this pic, and it used to drive me crazy why it seemed different. Especially the height of the scope.

I have a couple of images of that blaster, where the marks for the wear and tear matches. The photos were taken at Rancho Obi-Wan, owned by Steve Sansweet.
I am sure I saved those images from a thread on this board ... but I have not yet found that thread.
