Han Solo Costume on a Budget

Spend the money on the belt/holster, not the boots.
And stand next to a slave leia whenever possible.
They won't notice anything wrong with your kit.

I actually just talked to a guy that used to do metal work and he gave me all the info I need to make my belt/holster better than the one you can buy for a couple hundred dollars. Can't remember the address. After the Gallifrey convention I'm going to start focusing on this costume completely and I'll probably have the belt done by mid April.

Does anyone know if the bloodstipes that are always on ebay buyitnow are worth getting? (not sure if I'm allowed to link directly to the ebay store).

My first pair of Han Solo pants were simply dark blue jeans with red felt pieces glued to the side. I also removed the back pockets.

I sewed up the shirt and the vest. A real low cost solution to the holster is to pick up a drill holster from a local hardware store. They're priced as low as $10. A hasbro blaster could be modified.

Good luck with the costume! ;)

OK, so I'm starting on my belt this weekend and I was hoping somebody would be kind enough to supply me with some pictures of it from the side so I can get a good view of the pouches on the belt and the shape of the holster. Thanks.

Here are the best shots I was able to take at the exhibit:

Thanks for the pictures! What would you recommend I use for all the hardware on there? Is it all snaps? Rivets? Dome head screws?

I'm hardly an expert on this subject, but it appears snaps where leather meets leather and rivets where leather meets metal.

Well, if those are snaps, then I've got all the hardware I need. It makes sense I guess, what with the buckles switching places between each movie.
