HALO Scorpion tank

For lack of knowing a better place to post I'm going to post this here.

It's 2 weeks before I move on from working at McFarlane Toys. I thought I would share some pics of a few things I worked on. I couldn't really mention where I worked before for understandable reasons. :rolleyes

I worked on a bunch of different toy lines. If you have HALO toys then you probably own some of my work...except the arbiter, I didn't work on that guy. To keep with deadlines the toys are the work of many so I obviously don't claim to have done all the work. I don't know exactly what this thing is called. It was going to be for the second HALO vehicles line but since the first line did not do well enough the second line was cancelled. On a side note, in the background you will see 3 spartan bicep parts.

Re: HALO tank

That's great, I love what you do (damn, the first thing I watched on my LOST season 3 dvd set was the extra about the making of the action figures by the McFarlane!:D)
Great work!;)

Re: HALO tank

Scorpion! Thank you. I had so much HALO stuff go by that it was hard to remember what was what sometimes.

Thank you very much!!!
I love this stuff!:cool:thumbsup(y)thumbsup
I have another video. I made a video tour of the McFarlane model shop but it is 15 minutes long and youtube videos have to be 10 minutes or less so I have to find somewhere else to host unless I can figure out how to cut the video in half.

Re: HALO tank

Hmmm.... If I'll find a better host than youtube I'll let you know for sure!;)

Re: HALO tank

Amazing work. I had no idea things like that were still done by hand. What material is the bulk of the tank made of?

Re: HALO tank

Very cool - love the Scorpion tank! Maybe the vehicle line would have done better if that had been a part of the line. I have a few of the Halo figures on my shelf here at work so it's cool to hear from somebody that worked on them! My only wish is that the figures were 6 inch scale but I guess that might make them have a higher pricepoint or something... The 6 inch scale is just my personal favorite size for action figures.

Re: HALO tank

Thanks for sharing those - they really are epic! Quite a shame that they killed the vehicle line before these came out (but for some reason continue to issue 847 different colored versions of the same figures over and over again :rolleyes).

Nice work!

Re: HALO tank

Just to re-iterate what everyone else has said here, that's wonderful work, and thanks for sharing this with us.

If the caliber of work that you've shown is any indication, you're moving on to bigger and better things. Best of luck with everything.

We all wanted larger and it was cost that dictated the size. The 12 inch spartans were teetering on not being made.

Yeah, like Skittles.

I wish they had done the rest of the vehicles as well but the sales of the first series didn't leave the powers that be with confidance. For example, starting bids on Ebay for the chopper are $1.99. I think I spent a month working on the chopper. The figures are simply selling better.

Re: HALO tank

My work area at work is full of Halo goodness. I would have loved to have about 4 of these tanks :). Definitely great work. Thanks for sharing it.

Re: HALO tank

Mate that is incredible. My son is a mad Halo fan, he has over 70 of the figures and vehicles he has collected over the years. Most still in their wrappers.

It's funny because he wants to get into sculpting himself one day, and makes his own vehicles and models from clay, and when he has doubts about it ever leading anywhere I would pick up one of his Halo vehicles and say mate, some guy somewhere had to make this initially...and that guy is you, how very cool!

He also asked me to beg you to cast that Scorpion lol.

Thanks for all the great work, your pieces have provided untold hours of fun and motivation.

Cheers

Glenn

Tell your son I started with making things because they were not made yet. One of the first was a star destroyer and then a robot arm in heavy consrtuction paper. In high school it was a small Tardis and K-9 in sheet styrene.
