Sorry I have been away for awhile, trying to catch up.

This is a good sign i wasn't sure if I should take woodworking courses but seeing that has given me tons of inspiration - what kind of tools did you use if you don't mind me asking just trying to get an idea in my head what to get.

I use a lot of tools.
Scroll saw
Table sander
Drill Press
Hand drills
Dremel
Snap blade knives
Miniature chisels

I like to work with wood the best. It just takes time to learn all the different things you can do with it. I've been working with it for 26 years.
