Halo Reach Commando Helmet WIP (Pic Heavy)

Hello RPF!

I’m relatively new here, but I’ve been working on a project for the past 2 – 3 months over at the 405th & Soaring Hammer forums and I finally have something to post on the site. I’ve only been doing this since Oct 2010, so I’m still getting familiar with prop building. Well, I hope you enjoy.

Early stage:

Split the back so my large melon could fit.

lol,I don't see it. But, When I got towards the end I couldn't help but think of the storm trooper helmet. If i had to guess, I would say their was some inspiration from starwars in the design of the Halo Reach armor. Also, forgive my terrible paint job, it was my first ever. The video in my above post has the third paint job I've ever done. It turned out much better.

Okay, so I’m remolding the Commando, I know peeps are probably sick of seeing it but I figured I show the progress on the remold. This was a cast that was cleaned up some by Hyper.

As you can see, I sculpted the detail portion onto the visor and made it more rounded. This is will act as the base of the vac forming buck that I will make for the helmet. Once, finished and hopefully the pulls are successful it should fit any of the previous castings that people have with minor modification. After I saw Thorsson’s vac form buck success, I wanted to try it with the commando. Hopefully it’s as successful.

Now I need to find time to create the Commando visor buck. This will take me a while considering my life has gotten rather busy at the moment due to projects and work.
