Halo Master Chief foam build

Welcome to this post my most excellent friends. I have recently been working on a foam build of Master Chiefs armor from Halo 4. I haven't had a lot of time to post a progress report or anything so I am actually rather far along in the build. I do have pics of most of my pieces though. I am doing this on a very tight budget. (the budget of a high school senior with no job) I have spent maybe $50 on the build so far and I have enough materials to last me through the rest of the construction. So far I have the Chest piece, the shoulders, both forearms (no pictures yet), the lower legs, both knee pads, and both the cod piece and butt piece. I still have to finish the thighs, the hands, feet, and the helmet. I am currently finishing up the thighs then I will move into the helmet. Anyway, I am posting this for feedback and any suggestions that anyone has. I will post more pictures when I can.

(Edit: I forgot to mention, the wiring and speakers are for a setup that will allow me to play music and sound through the back of the suit. The music will be controlled by my android phone which I have made a case for in the right forearm.)

Nice work, I like the speaker, and phone set up. my son would love for me to make him on of these.

A Master Chief build with your own soundtrack will be a unique build for sure. It's a great idea, and it is looking good!

I have uploaded a video of my torso piece playing music here. The sound quality of the video is not great but I had to shoot it on my phone.

*Update* Master Chief Helmet

I have recently finished the construction of all of the pieces to the helmet for my costume. (Pics attached) What I have left to do with it is: paint and whether it, assemble the lights and small details, then I have to put in a visor. I have ordered a visor but the place I ordered it from had some "inventory issues" (whatever that means) and just canceled my order. On the plus side I got a full refund and I will be looking around on the internet for a new visor soon. The visor I had tried to buy was the HJC HJ-11 gold visor and I had originally tried to pay about 30 bucks for it. I have also completed the thigh pieces and I have included pictures both of the thighs and of the forearm pieces. Unfortunately I forgot to remember to take photos of the forearms before I painted them with primer so they are a little hard to see in the pictures. Soon I will move into making the feet and hands while I paint the rest of the costume.

Well, just a quick update. I have been painting and sanding and making sure everything is perfect before I actually put the proper color on and make it all look good. The process is very time consuming and there is barely any ascetic changes so I don't have any pictures. I am perfecting my technique on some easily replaceable parts (Knee pads and other small bits) I finally found a place that will ship me a visor. It cost me almost $27 off of ebay but I will not have it for a about two weeks so I am working on everything but the helmet basically. Although I am trying to figure out how I am going to wire the helmet with lights and a fan. You gotta have a fan. Anyway, that's that. I just wanted to make sure that my very few viewers knew that I wasn't slacking off or anything. I hope to have some of the parts completed by the time I receive the visor and at that point I will put up some pictures.

If you haven't been on the 405th, you may want to now, there's a large amount of halo armor information there.

Halo Master Chief foam build *Update*

Over the past couple of weeks I have continued to paint my armor and finish some small details that I may have missed the first time around. I got my visor earlier this week and I have since cut it to shape and this weekend I hope I will be able to mount it inside the helmet along with the lights and possibly a fan if I have enough room. Sorry about not having a lot of pictures. I hope to pretty soon get the time to record a video update.

I have just about finished the entire upper body of my armor and I am moving into the lower half. I have added lights into the helmet. 4 LEDs powered by 3 AAA batteries and turned on and off by a switch in the right jaw of the helmet. The paint job on all of the upper body pieces is almost finished. Detailing and distressing will be done as soon as I buy the paints.

Sorry I have not posted in a while. I have been busy with the build, my new job and the finishing of my senior year. I graduate in less then 2 weeks and I must be prepared for both the graduation ceremony and Motor City Comic Con. I have made significant progress as my pictures would indicate. I have all but finished, detailed and weathered all but a few of the armor pieces. Just a few more to complete and they will be done. After extensive thrift shopping I found some clothes that will make a serviceable under-suit. Not the ideal under-suit I had envisioned but that's what I get for working on a budget. I am almost half done with the Assault Rifle prop that will be part of the costume. I am behind schedule and working overtime so we will see how this goes. Stay tuned for more updates and pics.

Well, I didn't post anything here in regards to my finishing this project because really nobody would see it anyway. However, Now I will link you to my Facebook page's Albums and such so you can see the pictures of the finished project and my photos from Motor City Comic Con back in May. This will be my last post on this thread unless someone asks some questions.

I am not sure if those links will work or not but I doubt that it will matter much seeing as how there are probably less than 4 people who will see this post. However, I hope to continue to build things while I am at school and I may post some of that stuff here.

Just found this thread because I'm starting my first foam build with a very quick and dirty OG Master Chief from Halo: CE for my kid. Nice work!
