Halo 4 Needler build

Greetings!

Now, before I get started on anything, I would like to state that I am in no way a competent or professional 3d artist.

Now that that's out of the way, let me expand on the title.
I am making an attempt at building a Halo 4 needler, using nothing but Ingame files, my incompetent 3d modeling skills, a 3d printer, and the internet. I had the following plan in mind;
  1. Touch up Halo 4's Needler model, add details and smooth out the model.
  2. Print the Needler in segments, assemble the segments and do some post-assembly adjustments.
  3. Make a mold from the Needler segments.
  4. Make a cast of the needler.
  5. Add electronics, most likely Arduino-controller audio and lighting.

I'll try to post updates as frequently as I can, and any help or feedback would be much appreciated.
Anyways, Enjoy some images of the current state of the model.

Looking forward to showing more when progress has been made, for now however, that's it.
Cheers.

Though not 3d printed, Volpin's Needler build and is definitive in techniques used.

Daniel or Xtremenoob's build here: https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=218757 is also fantastic. Both should give you good ideas and starting points.

Good luck!

The biggest problem I'm running into right now, is getting the rear of the needler to work out right. I want to place my battery etc. in the same place Volpin and Xtremenoob have, but as I'm not a good modeler, I'm having a lot of trouble with trying to get everything to work out right. I don't want anything overlapping, because of my inexperience with prop making, and my fear of having to sand stuff down until it fits.
I am however considering putting this on hold for the time being, and going for a Plasma Pistol or Plasma Rifle instead, as they are less complex.
