HalloweenCostumes.com "Back to the Future 2 Light Up Shoes"

Re: HalloweenCostumes.com "Back to the Future 2 Light Up Shoes"

I wanna wear em already.. So i had to do something... All my ebay stuff won't be here till prob next month.. My EL panel order from china wont ship till march.. So im dying..

It was actually waaaaay easier than i expected

I heard it doesn't work so well on the smaller size of shoes, I got US8. So I'm worried I might have to go with a full cut-mod if the steam doesn't go well. I do not want to do that if I can help it.

The first run of HC shoes, the green-tail spatter sole version, those were built very well. I might do some picture comparison's between the two.

The second run, with these grey-dotted soles are rushed high-volume shoes. The heel cups are poorly attached and the glue is excessive in some places compared to the first run.
The only thing they did right was fix the lace spacing so you can get your foot in easier.

The yellowing can only be treated, not fixed. There's some suggestions in this post for treatments.

You'd have to replace the soles to fix it.

Better than nothing, but HC should still be trying to get the factory to take more care.

To be honest, i think expecting high quality from a $99 shoe thats being made by the same factory that is making the normal branded fakes is expecting too much!
They have to do things as quick as possible. And Halloween customes is not a charity, they don't really care about detail or quality. As long as the majority of their order is acceptable, they can handle a few poorly glued ones here and there.

The majority of the shoes will be ok. You might just be one of the unlucky ones to get a shoe where there are glue stains or other slight issues.

You can't really expect these to be high quality as the factory that makes them is a bit clueless. HC don't have control over any factory, they only deal with the middle man.

I've directly compared 3 pairs of HC mags. Two green-sole tail-wisp spatter shoes, and a pair of the new grey-sole dot spatter shoes. And I've compared them to pictures of shoes here which contain the same errors as my shoes. I'm not just looking at two pair and making a conclusion.

I understand acceptable write-offs. But In this case, my opinion is the factory deciding to take a little less care due to the shoes taking off and demand skyrocketing. The fact they changed from time consuming tail-wisp spatter to just dripping the paint on tells pretty much the whole story.

In fact, I have in prior posts stated that very thing. That they must stitch the laces different than the V2 to save time. I believe I shared that opinion with cavx. This is just a further extension.

Looking at this image (zoomed in from your's above) and these don't look to be stitched any different apart from that boarder around the laces. The fabic is still double tucked and folded in at the laces. I still stick to my claim that the ONLY reason they did it was to make these shoes a little more robust given they would be a mass released general wear item. It is certainly NOT to save time.

Those are Freddy's.

So they are. Point is, extra stitching is not required.

Yes it is. The inner fabric doesn't have a rolled edge at all. The outer fabric has a rolled edge, the inner is a raw edge. The ONLY thing holding those together is the top/edge stitching you can see.

Looking like the box is the best part then.

Yeah, I double checked the green-soles like Freddy's just to make sure they didn't change that too from the switch to grey-soles.

Raw edge, both run of mags. The greens just hide it better.

Just waiting for my cavx clear soles to get to me and lm moving to v2s
