Don't forgive to get some loctite professionnal glue to strongly bond the kit.

So I've finished my toe box slimming using the steam method and I'm quite pleased with the results

But it's those bulgy lace strips that are killing me, steam doesn't seem to help at all. Any help guys?

Thanks in advance

The only way to get the ribs flat is to open the shoe and remove the excess foam. Not an easy mod.

Ah damn, not something I want to be doing (way beyond my skill set) assume you mean slice from the outside? Or take the whole shoe apart?

Bluer than I wanted but I kinda like it. Should I do the heel bubble too?image.jpeg
Not looking forward to painting the soles but I have to get cracking to be finished and dried before the 21st.

image.jpgJust starting to do the strap upgrade, about to cut the hole in the strap but any tips on how to cut it to the right size so the Nike logo shows through correct and not too much of the edge (black) is visible? Maybe even the correct dimensions or a template to cut around? Or would it be easiest to just cut down the actual led itself? Bit nervy cos once I start cutting it needs to be right or I'll have no straps for Oct 21st....

thanks in advance

I just bought my own pair of HC mags and want to do a few of these mods but one thing that I'm wondering is why mine doesn't have the ribs where the shoe laces are? Any help?20151015_184128.jpg

How do the clear soles look in this batch? Are they yellow or clearer than normal?

im in the minority and like the ribs. They are a little too puffy though.

Do a full check on those shoe lights.

If you haven't, keep the shoes on for at least half hour. See if any of the red, green, or yellow lights fade.

Look at the toes from above. Make sure there are no funny lumps or shapes.

Check the whole sole. Make sure it's all glued down.

These smooth-sides have problems. I got 3 bad pairs in a row with visible defects. Just make sure you are satisfied with the whole shoe before doing any mods.

@stprime
All three pairs of smooth-sides I got had a hint of yellow.

I'm kind of in the middle ground - I like the ridges but agree they should be even less pronounced than the V2's, which are less pronounced than the HC's. The V1s had no ridges (though I wish they'd been made with cloth like Mark Poon's which were just a bit too small for me to wear) and they looked good enough, until they were superseded by the V2's. If nothing else, no ridges will make it easier to glue the swoosh on. The originals were hardly noticeable, as in the below pic.

Even though I don't like the HCs, I am tempted to get some of the smooth sides and mod the crap out of them including a proper sock toe and a set of my clear soles.

LOL thinkin the same thing! Much less cost to get them and experiment with other mods. BTW, I went to AMC expo today and actually saw a person with them. First time I've ever seen another person wearing any version of MAGs in Melbourne. I didn't realise the material of the HC upper was a darker grey until you see them side by side with my V2s. Maybe mine faded?

I didn't go "as Marty" - just a generic "future person" with some of the things seen in the movie, though I did get a T-shirt printed with a large version of the NIKE logo which is on the strap (mostly hidden by my jacket here).
