Halloween (2007) Question

So I recently re-watched the RZ remanke of Halloween. Now, I've never seen the director's cut, so maybe this was answered, but...

How does Michael know Laurie is his sister? Sure, he goes back to his hometown. Fine. And by some bad luck the girl is still living there. But she's fifteen years older, has a new name, there is no trace of her former identity...I mean, if all he had to go by was that photo of a two year old, that's not enough by a long shot for him to figure out who she is.

Am I missing something?

The directors cut is a mess... it doesn't explain anything. But the directors cut of RZ's Halloween 2 is way better. Go figure.

I don't think you're missing anything, as much as Rob Zombie may have wanted to dull the "supernatural" aspects of Michael by humanizing his origin, he takes 357 slugs to the face like punches. He can drive a big rig after having been in an solitary confinement cell for 15 years with no training, he's an evil supernatural force and was "Drawn" to her, otherwise it just doesn't add up.

One of the biggest flaws in the remake was that Rob Zombie got it into his head that the film was only about Michael Myers. As a result, we never get answers to questions like this.

The original "Halloween II" explained how Michael knew what Laurie looked like better (even if John Carpenter had to drink a full six-pack just to get through writing it), as Laurie visited him at the asylum when she was younger as we've seen in the film, even though she doesn't fully remember it.

Oh I know, I really dig the DC of Halloween 2. Really good movie, imo.

That's a drag about the Laurie plot hole, because other than that I really, really like this movie. But I just can't overlook something that glaringly stupid :unsure

I liked House of 1000 corpses, Devils Rejects, Halloween was OK, Halloween II wasn't as bad as everyone said but completely off the rails as far as keeping it true to Myers. Rob Zombie isn't known for his "genius" writing but he makes an entertaining movie. Never skips out on the gore, which keeps me into it.
