The Half-Life crowbar is probably my favorite weapon in any video game, or at least the most iconic to me. I have seen several replicas online which inspired me to do this, and while all good they weren't exactly accurate, or at least as accurate as you can get within reason (i will post a few of those at the bottom). I figured it would be simple enough, so about a year ago I made my first attempt which I posted to Reddit, and you can see an album of here: http://imgur.com/a/xoqwk
I did my best to get the length/size, color, and weathering as accurate as I could to the crowbar in the game (specifically the crowbar from Half-Life 2) even using a file to try and match the specific cuts and dents.
I was very happy with it but I had one major problem, and it was that the "hook" or "head" of the crowbar was not curved down enough. it doesn't seem like a huge deal, but my annoyance with it has been building up over the past year so i finally decided to give it a second shot. Finding a crowbar that was the same size but with a different shaped head was actually quite difficult, I went to probably 10 different hardware stores(over time), and while all had crowbars with the type of head i need they were always to big or too small (usually 36 or 24 inches, while the one in the game looks to be about 30 inches to me) so finally i looked online and saw that stanley (the company that makes the kind of crowbar I needed) had a 30 inch model, it had just been discontinued by home depot and lowes. So i bought it from amazon and interestingly enough its arrival came on the same day as Marc Laidlaw's (the lead writer of the half-life games) retirement. This was sad news for many fans, but at least i had this project to cheer me up.
But anyway, that's enough rambling. Here is (at least so far, in my opinion) the most accurate replica of the Half-Life 2 crowbar.

Here is a quick comparison between the hook of the first attempt versus the current one:

Here is a quick comparison with the crowbar from the game, followed by screenshots of the game model and its texture + promotional images

Obviously its not perfect (what is?) but I am very pleased with how it turned out.
Here are just some images of crowbars from the different games and a few of their textures:

And finally, here are the other replicas that inspired me to do my own, some of them from this site:

Now this was super cheap and easy build, so if anybody is interested in making their own this is the crowbar that i recommend you buy: http://www.stanleytools.com/en-us/h...-in-forged-hexagonal-steel-ripping-bar/55-130
Just a warning though, the whole thing was painted bright yellow and had to be completely stripped, which was definitely the hardest part at least for me.
The crowbar varies in size from game to game and concept art to concept art, so if you wanted to make the one from the first game then you will want to use a different model.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed
