Gumby Costume

zip it up..

still dont know how this will hold up but..

glued a zipper down to allow access in & out of the costume..
(so far its working well..)

I was half expecting the Eddie Murphy SNL costume lol. Looks amazing, might get a bit warm in it at a con.

new tool..

back to body work..

* agreed.. warm for sure! (i have some ideas and plans for ventilation as the project moves along.. but i do expect it will be warm!)

Cut it out..

nice to have a large table to lay this project out on..

(a layer of felt and of fabric.. )

pressing our luck..

(not sure how many times we had to iron man..)

getting the fabric over the frame.. & Gumby is almost green!
(hand sew the back seam..)

*still a ways to go..

I know this won't work with the lifts in place, but heelies might have been a good alternative to actual rollerskates, as Gumby both walks for short distances and slides for greater ones.

eye see what you did there..

working on the eyes.. that are actual just vents..
(all of the vision will be through the mouth hole of the costume..)

the red part of the eyes is magnetic so they can be moved around or switched out..

* i really wanted to do roller skates.. (still just seems way to risky! but would have been cool..)
the movement in the costume is pretty good, i wont be out jogging in it! but it does walks and moves pretty well..

lets face it..

gumbys grill..

(the mouth is completely removable by magnets..)

& thank you very much for the comments!

* i am very excited to see how it all comes together..! :)

This is an incredible build. It really looks great as a standing piece. Will be interesting to see it move and worn at a con.. and see how useable it is.
