Guardians family costume build (on a modest budget)

So here's a quick Halloween night shot, more detailed pics to come!!! 20141031_190827_1_1.jpg

Well, we had a successful run at rhode island comic-con... (which was a massive CF of an event on so many levels but that's neither here nor there...)
We probably posed for 100+ photographs over the two days, and I think I was the best-looking Star-Lord there in terms of the outfit... saw a couple fjackets coats, one other trench-wearer though it had the look of a "bought it off the interwebs"...only a couple of rockets and they were all store-boughts, maybe 5-6 gamoras of various degrees (two that were very good, a few I had to be told it was Gamora... all of them in the black outfit, so we had the originality going for us). Entered our first cosplay contest as a group entry and we nailed it... I danced my way on stage and my daughter pointed to a guy dressed (amazingly, btw) as Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon 2 and declared "I'm gonna need THAT guy's leg!!" and had a ton of fun with it. Sadly, failed to place (though the 20-30 people who came up to us on sunday and said that had seen us onstage and were shocked we didn't win made it a bit better to take). HOWEVER, my daughter entered the kids cosplay contest and won best in show! She (and we) are so very proud of her trophy, and when we had our photo op with Ray Park later in the day (whom we had met and chatted with on saturday) he insisted she bring the trophy into the picture with him.

Best news, we ran into an incredible Tony Stark while in the prejudging room, and he evidently helps admin a super hero fan group in boston, and he told us to come down for a mass Marvel photo shoot they were doing that day (which we did)... as it turns out, timing is great as this group of awesome cosplayers is looking to start doing charity work, hospital visits and such, and I've already managed to get a gig together for us to attend, so the costume lives on!! :)

Some pics from Comic-Con, including some professional shots of our group costumes :) Rocket onstage during the kids cosplay contest, and some of the people we met, Ray Park, John Rhys-Davis, and Gigi Edgely, who gets special notice because she hosted Jim Henson's Creature Shop on Syfy which we as a family loved watching and it definitely inspired us to go a little more all-in with our costuming this year. Also, have my first "appearance" as Star-Lord coming up in a few weeks at an event that benefits homeless vets, and our group has their first children's hospital visit coming up early next month!
