Groovy 1/4 Chainsaw blade?

So, I've been working on and off on an old vinyl Screamin' Army of Darkness 1/4 Ash model kit. I managed to find one on eBay that actually wasn't a recast for a decent price. The only problem is that it had no box, and was missing the chainsaw blade.

With such a large scale, I'd like to recreate one that looks as realistic as possible, so just cutting little triangle shapes around a sheet of styrene just isn't going to cut it (pun probably intended). It would look like a hack job (pun definitely intended).

So I'm calling out to all you RPFers out there. Does anyone have any ideas on how to create decent chainsaw blade teeth? The blade itself is easy enough to cut out of some sheet aluminum, but the teeth are what's got me at a standstill. Any advice or ideas would be very very appreciated.

Also, here are some progress pics. It's not much to look at now. Just base coats and some skin work.

Added some missing shirt tatters

Shaved some incorrect detail off. Still need to sculpt it in.

Arm from the elbow up is all sculpted from scratch. My father (who is a professional sculpter) was "stumped" with how I got the realistic detail into the gauze. I mashed the long john shirt I was wearing into the epoxy while it was still wet, and then carved some lines into it. He was impressed.

Personally, I'd try a home made photo etch contraption. :unsure I dont think there's too much in the line of 1/4 scale chainsaw blades

yeah i thought your main issue was the lack of teeth on the blade. if possible a 3 layer photo etching would be the best route tho.

What about the 18" figure McFarlane toys made years ago? Is 18" close to 1/4th scale?

But you'd probably have to buy the whole figure...which wouldn't be cheap, and then you'd have a saw-less McFarlane figure...the whole thing an endless circle!:lol

Unless you make a cast of the chainsaw blade. in which case it might be worth while

Remember, it's only going to be the chain, not with little 'teeth' on it.

I've already got that problem sorted out. Instead of cutting the sprue pins off flush, I nip 'em at an angle, leaving as much on as possible. You can kind of see what I'm talking about in the website's promo photo:

I'm a bit worried about the size, though. It's looking like they're a little too small, and I'm not sure they have any larger scales. Any opinion on the scale? These are 1:12 motorcycle chains, which are much larger than a chainsaw chain, so it MIGHT scale down properly, but I'm not sure (Ash uses a 20" blade).

Stealing a blade from the 18" McFarlane toy is a thougtful idea, unfortunately it's rubbery plastic and looks very unrealistic.

well I like your suggestion of cutting away from the sprue. It looks pretty sweet like that:)
