Green Lantern Movie Ring

My favorite is the one that the RPF's own Bimmer made! Too bad he's apparently given up on doing a run of them... really wanted to own one. :(

Anyway... this was posted on Facebook today by the Official Green Lantern Movie Facebook Page... looks different from the other props we've seen in the movie itself, so I have no clue what the origin of this photo is... might be screen used, might be a stunt ring, might be a replica... hard to tell what it is, 'cuz they didn't say. Just posted the pic with no explanation of what we're looking at.

Nobles apparently started pre-selling their "sterling silver" movie rings for $145 a pop. I wonder how they'll compare with the DC Direct rings, which so far, is the best (non Bimmer) replica that I've seen...

That looks to me like a test shot from one the earlier rings. We went through about 9-10 versions before they picked THE one. There was bunch of the rounded band ones for a while.

Hi, all. So... I picked up that Walmart DVD pack and agree that it's the Noble Collection fo sho. I am NOT a fan of the split band, and if it's a size eleven, I'm a CGI Mark Ruffalo. But after previously spending time cutting up and painting the NECA light-up, it really IS pretty dang cool IMHO. Plus, despite it resembling the waistline of a foxy girl who likes too many chicken wings, it's not entirely dissimilar to the leaner DC Direct from certain angles. That plastic band needs a makeover, though. My DCD on the left; WMDVD on right (the hole is to poke a paperclip through to evict the single batt when it poops out).

From L-R: DC Direct, WMDVD/Noble, a NECA work-in-progress, TRU, and a TRU work-in-progress. Don't get me wrong; my fat fingers can barely get this thing on (let alone OFF without the use of a special device only sold by a "doctor" who offices under an overpass). Not completely shabby, but needs work. Still, I'm mostly happy.

The DC Direct is the most accurate to the real ring worn by Ryan.

The Wal-mart (WMDVD/Noble) version is based off a earlier design that was not used...

I kinds like that lower profile design. I might pick up the blu ray just for the ring promo.

Thanks for the extra info!

My problem with the DC Direct ring is that I bought 2 of them, and on both, the "GL Corps Logo Gem" on the face is WARPED. The obvious poor quality control was very disappointing to me. :thumbsdown

Also, at size 13, the rings are simply TOO BIG. Reynolds wore a size 10½, which would also fit me well, so I was hoping they'd stick to that size. :unsure

Wal*Mart only packaged it in with the DVD release, and it can be hard to find. I lucked out that I found a Wal*Mart that still had them in-stock on the weekend, because other Wal*Marts in my area are completely sold out of the movie, not one copy in-stock AT ALL (as of Wednesday, anyway.) No Blu-Rays, no DVDs, nothing. Not one copy to be found ANYWHERE in the store at some locations.

We live in a backwoods tiny town.. odds are they still have some. Also all the rings I've gotten have ben too small. I had to dremel the inside of my tru diecast to make it fit better.

I know... LOL I almost got it stuck on my finger one day... I wear like an 11. Still cool to know I wore a HERO ring even if it was for 30 seconds.

If anyone is considering the WM/Noble ring for modding purposes, consider that there is a rather incongrous green rubber strip opposite the hole for changing out the battery. I'm uncertain how I'm going to address that part. I'll also need to remove the face, since the LED switch is on the inside of the band, and that sucker needs some filler at the split and some serious time with a dremel.

i just picked up the ring/dvd set at walmart about 30 mins ago and am not thrilled with it, but ts not horrible, especiualy for an extra in the dvd set. the main problem with it is that the center gem is clear and you can see the led and other electronics through it.
that and the rubber side piece kinda take away from the ring.

Yep, but again, that's necessary for changing the battery. Good luck changing the battery on the one from NECA! :rolleyes

The Noble Collection keeps expanding the offerings in their Green Lantern Collection!

Here's the latest additions, for anyone that hasn't seen them yet:

Green Lantern Die-Cast Ring Prop with Display Case (Approximate size 11, $35)
NN5941Lv.jpg

Green Lantern Sterling Emblem Ring (Crafted in Sterling Silver, Whole Sizes 8-12, $145)
NN8356Lv.jpg

Looks good, because unlike SOME fan-made silver replicas, it's got the weathering/antiquing like the movie prop! :cool:thumbsup

But... the center stone is out of proportion to the rest of the ring. It's much too large. :unsure

Green Lantern Spinning Steel Ring -- Green (Stainless Steel, Whole Sizes 8-12, $45)
XT8304Lv.jpg

Green Lantern Spinning Steel Ring (Stainless Steel, Whole Sizes 8-12, $45)
XT8305Lv.jpg

Green Lantern Steel Emblem Ring (Stainless Steel, Whole Sizes 8-12, $39)
XT8310Lv.jpg

All the fanboys will insist on calling this one the "Kyle Rayner" ring. ;)

Green Lantern Green Signet Ring (Stainless Steel, Whole Sizes 8-12, $39)
XT8317Lv.jpg

Green Lantern Emblem Pendant -- Black (Stainless Steel, Chain Included, $35)
XT8330Lv.jpg

Everything else, I believe has already been posted here... the Power Battery Prop, Light-Up Power Ring Prop, and the GL Dog Tag.

I'm guessing that since it's just a artistic representation of the item, that it'll actually be the same size as the die cast version and not different. Noble does that with most of their variations in rings, like the Harry Potter Horcrux rings... Everything is exactly the same except for the metal used.

I guess we'll know for sure in December, when people start getting these in their hands! ;)

So, which one of you is going to be the first to shell out $145 for one? :confused

I can't afford to spend that much on a ring right now, or I would have already bought one of the fan-made silver ones. Maybe after I get my income tax refund in the spring, I'll be able to afford one, if the real deal looks good.

Its VERY close to one the older style prototypes for the film. They went through so many version I lost count. I know of like 8 or 9, but I think Stormleader and his crew said they made like 12 different versions.

I could show you, but I would have to kill all of you... :cool
