I'm sure that RPF can do better!
I noticed the center ring's color immediately and knew it was wrong. As for the split band, that's so it can be adjustable for different ring sizes. Means I'll be able to wear it IF I can ever get my hands on one. Those "press" rings are replica castings. The real rings do not have a split back and they have a hole in the center of the metal to let light through the center gem. You can see the light through the center go dark as Hal closes his hand around the ring in the trailer.
The center metal ring should be silver.
Folks, if anyone here does any work and makes rings...please keep me in the loop. I would love to have a wearable GL ring. Showed my students the GL trailer, so I'm doing my part to shine the light. Thanks!
hmm plastic glued to metal ring.. at least they could have made them glow with a micro led..
well those pics do give me some clues to the ring..
If there is anyone here that is well suited to do this ring, it is you Megatron.
As I suggested previously, the plastic parts should be designed digitally and made using rapid-prototyping technology. And I DO stress when I say plastic pieces
And for those of us that don't know machinist's lingo, what does "SLA'd" mean? :confusedThe original "Gem" pieces that where used in the movie where all SLA'd out of Accura60 resin. We eventually cast them in urethane. All had a green candy coat of paint.
Hmm. That's interesting. Perhaps he was bidding on the job? They went through 20+ versions of the ring before they decided on the final design.
However, I can emphatically tell you with 100% certainty we made the movie rings. Nexnox did all the CNC work, and we made a LOT of them.
