Edit: SO made a lot of progress on this so I thought I'd put this up front for the time being

so after the success with spider man i figured time to change it up with green arrow and while i dont dig the stories much for the new 52 i do dig the costume. for those who don't know it looks a little like thisgreen-arrow-1.jpg1998406-knipsel.jpg

now my problem is i don't really have a clue of how to do the torso per say as i want to avoid a full body suit and go for more of the wearable vest and pants

While, I might not understand what you are saying, it looks to me like its a sleeveless turtleneck, and a hooded green vest. It would be simple enough to make with some sewing skill. The pants would be the bigger problem. Tight track pants or if you are willing, maybe some kind of Yoga pant or something?

i guess the word dig went out of style XD but yea seems cool i've established that a bit of craft foam should help with the arm braces and leg plates luckily i know just the girl who's quite exemplary with craft foam :D

I don't think its a turtle neck. It looks to me like the vest goes up onto the neck a little, then the over sized archers hood rests along the top of the vest/ on top of the shoulders. I have also been looking into making this costume. I can't decide what the vest is made out of. It kinda looks like leather, but it could be some kind of fabric. A kevlar vest would make sense if you are going up against guns or knives. I am also having trouble finding images of the back of the vest. I'm not a fan of the huge quiver box.

yea i've been coming across a couple of ideas at how to approach this after reading the comics the kevlar vest does seem likely (if you aren't a fan like i wasn't of the new 52 start at #17 as its a different writing staff) for instance in the panel you can see how while the hood is cloth the chest seems pronounced Screenshot_2013-09-02-20-54-32.png so i'm thinking a compression shirt + craft foam should HOPEFULLY do the job and then maybe make a detachable hood and either find someone who knows how to sew or learn myself?

knowing this my current materials seem to be the following:

green craft foam (or maybe other colours i mean after enough layers it should be paintable in whatever colour)
a compression shirt perhaps like this UND427_1000_2.jpg (i'm wondering if better to do the green and black or just green and paint or cover however i want)
compression pantsmqdGJdPerBrhJBWg1P3KjYw.jpg
and some kind of shoes

the quiver i think ill do a cardboard box and put fabric around it
and the belt and arrow i'm still trying to determine

so yea hopefully this helps once again i'm free to suggestion

according to wikipedia..... Compression garments are pieces of clothing such as socks, pantyhose, sleeves, etc., that provide support that is especially useful for people who have to stand for long periods, or people with poor circulation. basically they try to maintain circulation and prevent cramps and get faster recovery time almost sounds reasonable for a superhero

I like your idea of starting with compression gear and working up. It'll look much more modern than a green arrow patterned morph suit. For the mask you could buy one of the green lantern masks that came out with the movie, there must be some still for sale. This suit will look great if you've got the physique to pull it off, time to hit the gym.

These or similar would be good for the gloves.

Green Arrow #2 013.jpg

This image shows that the vest is separate from the under shirt. I was wrong.

This shows some of the details of the quiver.

This shows some of the details of his back.

it looks like the capsules are like a utility belt.

wow everyone got some good scans of panels and items this is great outta curiosity what gloves are those? biker/ motorcycle?

I have decided to use leather for mine. It will not be for a while because I am working on a spiderman costume. When I do get around to making this, I will make a wip thread.

That tank top looks like it would be a really good base for your green arrow costume, some leather shoulder pads and a zip put in would look great.

IMG_20130913_152550.jpgIMG_20130913_152701.jpg so i got myself a bow and sword (yea i liked the kevin smith arc where ollie reintegrates himself with some new training so i thought id get that) i was hoping to get some cardboard boxes from work but i keep forgetting but yea im still material gathering.

Oh also question does anyone have like a 3d template for a green arrow belt buckle i honestly wouldn't mind having one that i can use day to day on an actual belt you know?

Hey Sumguy. Any updates on the green arrow costume? any info on that bow?

yea sorry i've been busy with mid terms assignments school and budget all thats really been done was my hooded vest came in (but i think i shouldve gotten the size larger) and i got these great motocross glvoes that add that great touch

i'm still looking into a good mask i found some cool looking ones on etsy but they dont ship to canada unfortunately my alternative is possibly getting this Riddler Green Arrow NEW 52 Costume Leather Mask Most Authentic Free Bonus | eBay. i mean i have a basic full face mask that i wanna mold but i'd prefer a better material and build quality and i'm absolutely terrible with liquid latex.

As for the bow, i'm waiting til after exams so my friend and i can do some craft foam work make the bracers and such. That and i'm still waiting for the right time to get the compression pants and shirt i'm worried if i jump in too early and i get into a work out routine it may be a bit too tight and i'd have to rebuy things.

I love how well the colour matches between the vest and the gloves!

As for the mask, if you're looking at a leather one, they're super-easy to make. Get some 9-10oz veg-tan leather, figure out your pattern (probably best on paper or craft foam first), and cut it out. Dampen the leather with a wet sponge until it's floppy but not saturated, and mould it right to your face (you can dunk the leather in water, which I see in a lot of tutorials, but it takes a lot longer to dry if you do that). Let it dry somewhat on your face so it will retain its shape, and then paint/dye it once it's fully dry.

One thing I learned about my mask is that if the string holding it on (I used thin elastic) is too tight and pulls on the mask, it will deform it. I need to remake mine because it pulled out at the sides so much that it started to fold along the horizonal axis and doesn't sit flush above and below my eyes any more - it sticks out from my face at the top and bottom!

Good luck with everything! I love seeing comic GA builds. :)

much appreciated you two i was definitely considering an idea like the foam glue as the way to get it on.

Also with mask i was curious too whats easier to work with latex or leather and what are the pros and con of each using something like spirit gum or toupe tape.

either way i don't expect the next update to come for awhile due to christmas shopping i'll probably try and do some of the bracers during winter break though
