Interest Greedo Killer Accurate Grill

Okay, After studying the archival photos for many more hours, it occurred to me that there could in fact be 2 Greedo killers.

Why? Well it could be the Propmaster made a close up shot Hero version, a stunt. Whatever.. Or that they were on location where the gun itself was a double of itself, but not identical.

Also one big thing I noticed making the model was that the grill itself is Asymmetrical, one side is shorter from front to back than the other. For your consideration please see the video.

Crazy stuff, never realized the differences on the grill before. But, it definitely looks asymmetrical.
Btw...I saw you working with a pic of the flash hider. Would you like a flash hider? I got one from a gun auction that I've put on hold for a Greedo before this project started, be happy to lend it to ya.

Then again, that's prolly the pic of the one you have....duh sorry ;)
Anyways,

Mineral glass size...most ppl did double domed 2mm on the DEC DL-44 build
the model and size was LMG 26.1 for the large and LMG 16 for the small one
I'm good with a static windage assembly
agreed on ppl getting their own weaver scope rings, doesn't seem cost effective to custom build these.
I'm stuck on the markings....I can't imagine a decal looking quite as nice as engraving, especially with weathering. Not sure
on the cost of this, not quite as easy as making a mold ;)

That's my 2cents....Aaron, the work you're doing looks fantastic ;)

The holster theory also comes into play, maybe they changed the weavers and setup for the Greedo scene, but it still make no sense cuz they got a bent scope in the archive photo, unless it got damaged shooting, storing it, or using the parts in another film. I think the 2 prop theory makes more sense, for lots of reasons.

Just thinking about your observations and wanted to check it out:

I highlighted in red things that LOOK similar between the two.

However, clearly the mount has been taken off or moved, because the disc screws aren't in the same positions. The one discoloration mark on the MGC looks the same, but could be my mind making it so. SO IF it's the same MGC... maybe they replaced or moved the discs?

Assuming the same mount... but it looks like it is, or at least was made the same.

The scope on the screen cap looks to have some wear where the front football style ring is in the studio pics. Also it looks slightly bent...???

I wonder which came first?

Surely they didn't have two of the same scope... sheesh hard enough for us to find them, I doubt they were all over the place back then too. Isn't is considered cheap junk scope anyway?

Anyway, playing devil's advocate a little.

I am not sure, I would guess the Holster shot is the answer. Being that the big knob weaver perched on the barrel made it impossible to put it in the holster for the close up shot where he draws it from under the table. Yeah they are cheap scopes, and I bet there are attics or cedar closets full of them mounted on grandpas ol woodchuck gun on farms across the land everywhere, however no one thinks they are worth anything, cuz in reality the only people that value them are Han Solo prop guys. Being that some people know how much they can fetch for one I am sure gunbrokers everywhere are putting their feelers out. Lord knows I contacted 50 firearm collector people and people that specialize in finding that kind of thing, and I am sure others have as well. If they do start to surface, we will see dumb amounts of money being asked for them.

Thanks, its gonna be a process. Once we can figure out the setups and materials we can ballpark costs and stuff, I am sure you all know the routine.

As far as the engraving goes, will have to work it out. Regarding the crossahairs?? I was referring to a very thin vinyl decal that could be applied to the concave part of the double dome on the inside of the lens. If there is a solution that has been used before and I missed it in another thread please link or post it in the thread. I am all for having it be a more streamlined solution.

Yeah Weavers are out, I just found tons in a couple minute search online. They are a PITA, and by my count this Tentative run is looking pretty sad as far as turnout, of course there is not much to look at just yet.

I contacted GS mineral glass and will submit the Final dimensions to them for each size lens, I will update the info when I have it.

The football style weaver rings: The front one just free floats completely. It doesn't actually touch the barrel at all, best I can tell. There's a couple photos of Ford holding it semi-toward camera in the post production promo shots, and it looks to me like it's just floating in mid-air. Kind of pointless.

I had mentioned in another thread to Odiwan72 that I thought the front ring had a larger fastener than the back. I believe at the time he agreed. I thought the forward weaver ring might be a taller type too but he believed it just that the ring is positioned so that the bottom of the ring is angled toward the camera.

To ME it's definitely not a matched pair. The front football ring is definitely sporting a larger knob

Okay guys and girls, I only have the Scope lens sizes to finish up, and I spoke with GS about lenses - the LMG versions.

I have the fastener list all figured out for all the parts also. GREEDO KILLER BRACKET.jpg

I'm unlurking to say that I would be interested in the grill, depending on how well it will fit to a Denix C96 replica. Price isn't as much of a factor as long as it isn't so expensive that you stop selling these before I have the money saved up for one.

I'm doing a modified DL-44 for my Mandalorian costume and wanted to base it more off the Greedo Killer DL-44 than the other versions.

EDIT: Fixed something.
