Is anyone else watching the Greatest Tank Battles on the Military Channel? If not definitely check it out if you have that channel. I think there have been two or three shows so far. The one on the Battle of 73 Eastings in the first Gulf War was really good. They showed two Bradleys acting as scouts and they accidentally stopped right by a T72 (I think). He depressed the gun fully and shot its turret point blank. I was surprised because they show that killing the tank. I didn't think that cannon would penetrate.

The coolest part was one of the Bradley commanders said they they had a picture of Rommel taped inside the Bradley. An Iraqi officer they captured that spoke English was stuck in the back and he asked why they had a picture of one of their greatest enemies in the tank. A private told him "Maybe if you had read more about him, your *ss wouldn't be in the back of my Bradley!" :lol

Too true! There are no politics in the military, just good tactics. :lol

That's a good show. Interesting and exciting without any phony hype needed.

I just saw the one with the Canadians in Shermans fighting Panthers while getting bombed by British planes. One Canadian hits a German right in the crack between the hull and turret.

Remember though that cool and exciting tank battles = thousands of guys being burnt alive in metal boxes... a fate forced on them by the deranged whim of some nutter like Hitler or Saddam. Pretty friggin' depressing.

True. I lost one of my Grandfather's much the same way sadly in WW II. My other Grandfather on my father's side was shot down while serving in the Army Air Corp. Fortunately he was able to return home.

My grandfather will never be featured on this show.

Unless they have a series dedicated to soldiers shooting Fallschirmjäger out of the sky, that is.
